Can’t Catch Me….

Job 3:25 “For what I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I was afraid of has happened to me”

As children we had endless hours of fun playing chasing games. One child would head off at top speed only to be pursued closely behind by the other players. We would duck & weave hoping to keep ahead of our pursuers. The winner was always the one that didn’t get caught.

Our verse demonstrates how fear pursues us daily trying to catch us. If we allow it to accomplish its desire, it’ll destroy our lives.  2 Timothy teaches us that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear. So, if it’s not from God, we don’t need it.

God provides us with His power, love and a sound mind to elude fear. If we use them to empower us we’ll diffuse fears capacity to accomplish its evil work. Job discovered the result of fear and it’s a result we do not want in our lives.

This week let’s access God’s promise & empower our lives against fear. God has supplied 3 powerful things that’ll keep us ahead of fear every day. When we wield His power through the name of Jesus, walk in His agape love and keep our mind strong through the Word of God, fear is unable to catch us.

Always remember that the winner is the one who doesn’t get caught. Let’s use what God has given and ensure that we are agile and fast so that fear can never cause a problem again.

Stay Calm…

Exodus 14:14 “The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

When life’s pressures mount and the road ahead seems more difficult than we planned it’s easy to start panicking and pushing our own solutions. We want the pressure to cease instantly and everything to be peaceful again. We often discover that rushing didn’t offer the best solution.

Our verse holds a powerful key to a successful future. It’s a timely reminder that we should always rely upon the Lord no matter what surrounds us, pursues us or threatens us. Whatever it is, it hasn’t taken God by surprise. Rather, He saw it coming and initiated a plan especially for us to bring us through.

Now to enter into this promise we need 2 vital things. Firstly, we must know that God is fighting for us. We’re both on the same side. This is important because many believers think that God is angry with them or is against them. No, the truth is He loves us and is fighting for us.

Secondly, we must remain calm. Another version says, “We shall hold our peace”. Understand that God is the source of true peace and He gives it to us. So take hold of it in these testing times and let it deliver calmness to the soul. Remaining calm provides much less room for the enemy to rush and pressure us.

This week let’s stay calm. If pressure builds and relief is needed let’s remind ourselves that God is fighting for us. Not only that, He has also given us peace to calm our soul. We’re on the winning side so let’s stay calm and act like it.

Excuse me…

Philippians 2:3 “Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead.”

Have you ever shopped and been confronted by a pushy sales person. No matter what you look at they’ll flatter and tell you how good it would be for you. The bottom line is they seldom believe what they’re saying; they selfishly want you to buy the item. Some people will say and do anything simply to get a result. But that’s not God’s way.

Today our verse reveals how success really works. It says that we shouldn’t push and sweet-talk others to get things. Rather, we should lay our needs aside in order to help others succeed.  Doing this will enable their future to flourish as well as our own.

In John 15 the bible says that we show greater love by laying down our lives for a friend. Why even bother trying to manipulate and flatter when helping someone will produce the best result. It will ensure their success as well as our own. This is God’s way to the future.

This week let’s help someone else get ahead. Let’s give them a leg up and a step forward by causing them to succeed. It may be a friend, colleague or even a stranger. As we show them greater love, by putting them first, they’ll experience success. At the same time we’ll experience the joy, satisfaction and rewards of living life God’s way.

About Life…

Mark 11:23 “…if you have no doubts in your mind and believe that what you say will happen, then God will do it for you.”

Airline companies used to offer mystery flights. You could buy a mystery ticket, turn up at the airport and hop on a flight to an unknown destination. You wouldn’t know where you were going until you were on the airplane. Some destinations were great while others were awful. You had no control over where you would end up.

Life shouldn’t be a mystery flight for a born again believer. In todays verse Jesus says that if we believe without doubting then our destination is assured, we land on what we have spoken. Our destination is determined by the words we speak. Our today was formed by the words of our past. If we don’t like where we are now we must change the words that we are speaking.

Never underestimate the power of our words. Proverbs 18 tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. It says that what we speak today will form our future. We can partake of death or life depending upon what comes out of our mouths. Speaking words of life about our future, will always take us to the very best destination.

This week let’s stop and listen to what is coming out of our mouths. Let’s retrain our words to be words of life and never death. As we do this we’re prophesying our future. We’ll no longer be on a mystery flight to an unknown destination. Instead we’ll be heading towards a brilliant future that’s full of purpose and hope. See you when we land!
