A Quick Thought…

Philippians 1:3 Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God

Have you ever heard a person justify their actions with the words “I just thought…”? It’s not a very good excuse because scientists say that a person has up to 70,000 thoughts in a day. That’s almost a thought every second. This shows that our mind is an extremely busy place but not every thought we have is right nor is each one valuable.

The Apostle Paul helps us today by describing what he does with his thought life. He says that when he thinks of another person he gives thanks to God for them. Now, Paul doesn’t tell us whether he’s thinking good or bad thoughts about these people. What he does say is that he brings every thought into captivity [2 Corinthians 10:5] and then thanks God for that person regardless.

Can you imagine how quickly the voice of the enemy could be shut down in our minds if we do what Paul did? If every thought we have about another person is responded to by giving thanks to God for them? Suddenly the devil, the accuser of the brethren, would become silent. The louder we get with thanks, the quieter he’ll become.

This week let’s give thanks to God for each and every person that we think of. No matter how good, bad or indifferent they are to us. Let’s lift our voices to heaven and thank God for them. This will cause a peace to come upon our soul, as the devil pulls back and God draws near. We’ll definitely be praying for you so make sure you pray for others.

God’s Masterpiece…

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece.”

There’s a certain thrill that most people feel when they get to view a masterpiece. It matters little whether it’s a book, painting, movie or a piece of music. What matters is the beauty bought forth by the outstanding artistry, skill and workmanship involved. The masterpiece stands above and beyond all others and can endure in our memories for a lifetime.

Today’s verse reminds us of a special masterpiece that has been skillfully crafted to become the best piece ever. It is a very special piece that has artistry, skill and workmanship. The creator of all things has uniquely formed it. That’s right we’re talking about you. YOU ARE A MASTERPIECE.

Many people don’t see themselves this way; rather they think they were thrown together from odds and ends in a rush to get them finished. This is a lie – God’s Word calls us His masterpiece and so we are His masterpiece. It doesn’t matter what our personality is, our shape, our height or our hair color; we’re all unique masterpieces and God can’t get us out of His mind.

This week let’s shake off all the lies that the devil has told us. We are masterpieces not misfits. We are outstanding, beautiful and carefully crafted for good works. God loves us with a passion. He believes in us and he is empowering us to accomplish every plan and purpose He’s got for us. Liberate yourself today by understanding & believing that YOU ARE A MASTERPIECE!

Forgotten Again…

Psalm 34:7 “God’s angel sets up a circle of protection around us while we pray”

Have you ever thought to do something, walked to the next room and forgotten completely why you went there. Often, if we’re quick to retrace our steps, we remember and can do what we intended. Frustrating as this may be it happens to the best from time to time.

The importance of prayer is one vital area that people forget to be diligent in. Today’s verse gives us a magnificent reason why we should be proactive in prayer. We’re told that as we pray God’s angel sets up a circle of protection around us. I don’t know about you but I LOVE the sound of that. A circle of protection, set up by God’s angel, around me!

I think the early church understood this fact so much better than most current day believers. It’s probably the reason they penned verses like Luke 21:36 “Pray always”, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “never stop praying” and Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always” They understood the protection that came as they prayed. That’s why they encouraged us to always be in prayer – so we’re always protected.

Now, remember that prayer is simply a conversation between you & God. We’re meant to be in constant contact with Him hearing and responding at all times. If we’re ever feeling vulnerable or unsafe then prayer delivers instant protection. It doesn’t matter where we are or who we’re with, prayer will instantly connect us to God’s circle of protection each & every time. Stay in prayer & God promises this circle of protection around all the time.

Listen Up…

Psalm 42:7 “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls”

As a child it didn’t matter how noisy the games were that we played when mum or dad called we heard their voice. Not only did we hear them, we responded. If we ignored them there was a high chance that we would miss out on something important or not be where we needed to be at that time.

Today’s verse reminds us that God’s voice is continually calling out to us no matter how much racket surrounds our lives. God’s voice will even pierce through the most overpowering distractions. The enemy pours out thundering waterfalls of noise as he tries to distract us from God. But God’s voice still breaks through but we must be listening to hear Him.

Our born again spirit, deep in us, is always tuned and listening for the voice of God. The deep things of God connect with our spirit and His voice becomes loud in our lives. God’s voice will bring direction, future and hope even when the enemy is set against us. But if we’re not listening we won’t be able to hear.

No matter what breakthrough we’re waiting for, God wants to talk to us about it. Let’s take some time aside this week to listen for His voice of direction in our lives. His voice is louder than any distraction the enemy can bring and it’s easy to discern because of the peace that comes with it.

Have a Blessed & Prosperous week ahead…
