Heads or tails…

Deuteronomy 28:13 “The LORD will make you the head, not the tail”

Growing up on a dairy farm I gained an early education that a cow has two ends – the head and the tail. The tail end is messy, dirty and smelly whereas the head end is noisy and often dangerous. The animal is led by the head whilst everything unwanted comes out the tail end… so don’t stand too close!

Todays verse let’s us know about the future plan God has for each of us. He intends us to be the head, the top, summit, front and beginning of everything in our life. The problem is many believers needlessly accept the back end of life as normal. They’re regularly pushed around by others, continually being covered in the unwanted messes of life.

It’s easy to feel like we’re not capable of being the head but this verse teaches that God will “make us” one. The verse continues on to say that if we pay attention to God’s commands and carefully follow them, we’ll always be at the top and never at the bottom.”

This week lets make the decision to become the head. rather than living as the tail in life. Let’s take control and lead our lives through the Word of God – no matter what anyone says or what they do.

In our life let’s lead not follow

In our work let’s lead not follow

In our family let’s lead not follow

In our growth in God let’s lead not follow

In no time at all people will start noticing and we’ll be able to share God’s plan for their life to become a head and never the tail.

Have the greatest week ahead…

The Echo…

Isaiah 42:12 “Make God’s glory resound; echo his praises from coast to coast.”

As a child I enjoyed visiting Echo Point. Whatever I spoke would bounce back from across the valley. When I yelled really loud the words would rapidly return and I would hear them repeat over & over until they eventually faded away into the distance valleys.

The echo is a powerful spiritual weapon given to the believer. When we use the echo the way God intends it becomes a powerful force that advances His Kingdom and rapidly takes ground back from the enemy. If used in the negative it results in the destructive sin of gossip.

Now, God intention is that we echo His Glory; that is everything that He is doing now. He intends us to speak this out and allow it to bounce across the entire nation from coast to coast… in other words He expects everyone to hear about it.

The louder we speak the greater and stronger our echo becomes. The problem is that when we refuse to tell people about what God is doing then our voice can never become an echo and we miss out on the wonderful rewards that it brings.

This week, lets see how loud and how often we can talk about the great things that God is doing? As we do, they’ll become firstly an echo to those close by and then, as God plans, an echo to the entire nation. If you have time why not read on in Isaiah 42 to discover what the Echo results in.

Having It All…

This week lets have the Apostle Paul encourage us into our future…

2 Corinthians 6:1-10 “Companions as we are in this work with you [As God’s partners], we beg you, please don’t squander one bit of this marvelous life God has given us. God reminds us,

I heard your call in the nick of time;
The day you needed me, I was there to help.

Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off; don’t frustrate God’s work by showing up late, throwing a question mark over everything we’re doing. Our work as God’s servants gets validated – or not – in the details.

People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly, unswervingly… in hard times, tough times, bad times; when we’re beaten up, jailed, and mobbed; working hard, working late, working without eating; with pure heart, clear head, steady hand; in gentleness, holiness, and honest love; when we’re telling the truth, and when God’s showing his power; when we’re doing our best setting things right; when we’re praised, and when we’re blamed; slandered, and honored; true to our word, though distrusted; ignored by the world, but recognized by God; terrifically alive, though rumored to be dead; beaten within an inch of our lives, but refusing to die; immersed in tears, yet always filled with deep joy; living on handouts, yet enriching many; having nothing, having it all.”

Just One Thing…

Philippians 3:13 “But this one thing I do

Most people have a habit. Many habits are unseen. Some habits prove annoying whilst others are helpful. Habits are often birthed from either frustration or the need to efficiently achieve a goal. Not every habit is destructive; some can actually propel us into a brilliant future.

Today’s verse has Paul telling us about a hidden habit that kept him constantly moving forward in life. He says that he simply forgets everything that has happened in his past and then he reaches and stretches forward to his future. The key to doing this is to be aware of, and accept, our present as the stepping-stone to where we are going.

Today contains everything we need to build a fabulous future. Once we discover that God truly will supply all our present and future needs we will understand the necessity of releasing our past. A blessed future is simply built by releasing our past, accepting our present and using it to construct a blessed tomorrow.

This week why not start a new habit? A habit just like the apostle Paul had! Firstly we’ll need to release our past – no matter how good or how bad it was. Then we must accept where we are right now – we can use this as a seed to build an amazing future. Then we can reach forward to our future – this may be a bit of a stretch and a little uncomfortable. As we do as Paul did we’ll receive a brilliant and blessed future that we can truly be excited about.

Sing that Song…

Isaiah 12:5 “Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.”

Have you ever listened to a song and then caught yourself humming or singing it unconsciously a short time later. It may have been the catchy tune or the rhyming words that gets inside our heads but eventually the song comes out our mouths.

Today’s verse lets us know about the song that we should be singing. It’s the song that the whole world should be singing. It’s a song so catchy and melodic that everyone who hears it will sing it. It’s a song about the glorious things that God has done for us.

Some people sing songs about death, loss and devastation but the redeemed of The Lord sing songs of love, grace and the mighty works of our God. These songs become anthems of victory for our lives and as they echo through our relationships everyone we know will be singing this new song. It will tell the world about all the glorious things that God is doing to and through us.

This week lets start to sing a new song about our lives rather than the dreary ode about the defeats of our past. We can sing a catchy song that’ll get inside the heads of everyone we meet. They’ll soon be joining with us as we glorify God for ALL THE GLORIOUS THINGS HE HAS DONE!
