Remember Me…

Hebrews 13:5 “…for God has said, “I will never leave you or abandon you”

Before we were even conceived, before we were formed in our mother’s womb Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that God knew us. Not only does He know us but Luke 12:27 says that he knows everything about us to the minutest detail. God knows us and He has a purpose and plan for our future that is beyond whatever we can ask or think. But it’s easy for us to forget this and feel lonely and abandoned.

Our verse helps us to understand that God has a powerful and unique promise to each and everyone of us. That promise is that HE’LL NEVER LEAVE OR ABANDON US. It doesn’t matter how savage and destructive the storm is that batters our life He is not separating from us. God is sticking with us and His power will be there to help and deliver us out of every circumstance. We can tend to forget what we promise but God doesn’t. If He says He’ll be with us then that’s where He’ll be. He doesn’t forget us and He doesn’t forget what He said He’ll do. We need to take strength in this and anchor ourselves into this truth… He remembers me, He’s with me… And He’s not leaving me!

Many people right now are going through a tough storm in life. We want to encourage you that God is there with you right now and he has a plan to prosper you into your future. There’s a testimony that’s coming from the trial you’re passing through. So don’t stop and don’t stand still in this season. Grab hold of God’s promise and race into your future with Him – you’ll be glad you did.

Greater Things…

John 14:12 “Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these”

God cares less for where we’ve been than he does for where we are, and where we’re going. Our past is the past but today’s decisions will frame what tomorrow is going to be. Our futures are birthed today and Jesus expects them to be greater than ever before.

When we look at the amazing things that Jesus did we’re filled with hope, expectancy and faith for our future. This verse reminds us that, as we believe in Jesus, not only can we do what He did but he expects us to do even GREATER THINGS. Even greater things than Jesus did!

Every day we should be making valued decisions to do greater things in God than we accomplished yesterday. There’s always a better way of doing things and the Holy Spirit wants to lead us to reach forward towards them.

Jesus doesn’t expect us to get to our destination in a day. Rather, He’s taking us on a journey, a process to get to there. It’s accomplished as we listen & yield to the Holy Spirit. Doing this ensures that we’ll collide with our fabulous future.

This week let’s decide to do greater things than what we’ve been doing. Let’s listen closely to the Holy Spirit and make choices according to God’s Word. Before we know it we’ll be in our future doing even greater things like Jesus said!

Keeping Power…

Jude 1:24 “Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.”

Do you have a special piece of jewelry, stocks & bonds or treasured gift that is kept in a safe place so that it won’t get lost, stolen or damaged? It’s usually a secret place that only you and possibly your closest confidants know about. It’s a safe place of keeping that can be accessed whenever the treasured possession is needed.

Our verse, written by Jude the half-brother of Jesus, gives insight into a unique and powerful side of God; His “Keeping Power.” We’re told that God is able to keep us and bring us. WOW! God does the keeping and the bringing but only when we let Him. We must locate ourselves in His safe place, under His Word, so that He can keep & bring us to the amazing places he has planned.

Believers are often unaware of God’s “Keeping Power”. Whenever I look back over my life I increasingly see what God has kept me from and also what He is bringing me to. I see God’s “Keeping Power” in action each & every day. But why would God want to do this? It’s simply so that He can have us with Him, faultless and filled with joy bringing Him glory.

This week let’s take a moment to look back across our lives. As we do this let’s also allow the Holy Spirit to reveal what God has kept us from and what he is bringing us to. As we do, we’ll step into overflowing joy in His presence – in His special place and then all we’ll want to do is glorify God more!

What’s Your Name…

John 1:42 Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, “Your name is Simon, son of John – but you will be called Rock” (which means “Peter”).

Everyone has a name. As soon as we’re born we’re named and that name stays with us for life. Our name is what people address us, and call us by from that day forward. Everyone’s name has a specific meaning and we either accept that meaning or we don’t.

In today’s verse we discover that Jesus is into changing names. This is because our original name does not always take us to the place that God has planned for our future. So He calls us by a different one. Simon meant, “hear and obey” which is a really great name but Jesus changed it to Peter, which meant rock. No one had ever been called “Rock” before but Jesus knew that this was what Simon would become in the future.

Peter’s life had been quite impulsive and unstable up to this point but when Jesus prophesied over him a new name it would affect the course of his life from that point forward. We discover the fullness of it’s meaning in Matthew 16:18 when Jesus says that this in what He can build His church on. Simon had to go beyond the destiny of his original name to receive the fullness of what Jesus called him.

This week allow God’s Word to rename you for your future. He wants to take you deeper into your destiny than your current name allows. Don’t allow you comfort zone of familiarity to restrain you any longer. Rather allow your new name to direct & draw you into the great future God has planned. You’ll be so glad you did!
