“Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalms 46:10

We live in a fast-paced world fascinated with rapid & instant results. It’s easy to get caught up in the rush as we strive to get everything done as soon as possible if not sooner. Our lives becomes so hurried that we find ourselves standing in front of the microwave tapping our foot thinking, “Come on… hurry up!” They call us the “microwave generations” because of our impatience.

Today’s verse lets us know that God doesn’t always operate in the hustle and bustle that we’ve created. Rather than rushing everything we’re told to slow it down and “be still.” This means we’re to cease striving and let go, stepping out of our busy lives and recognizing what God is doing above everything else that is happening.

As we relax & slow our lives down we’re given the vital opportunity to take a long and loving look at our creator. This results in Godly order and structure returning to our lives and we’re enabled to see life His way rather than our own. What was once rushed mayhem now becomes a fruitful and vibrant God centered life. God becomes exalted in the nations, the whole earth and us.

This week let’s take some time to stop. Let’s be still for a few minutes each day so we can set our thoughts solely on Him. Let’s not become impatient or distracted as we do this. In no time at all we’ll find God in our solitude and He’ll embrace us in His peace. Life will become much clearer and God will be highly exalted again in our lives.

“God will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting” Job 8:21

There is nothing better than a good laugh. Some people laugh out loud, others giggle and smirk quietly. Laughter is both infectious and attention grabbing. It is a universal language that’s understood by absolutely everyone. People always want to know “What was so funny”

Today’s verse let’s us know that God is the one who fills our mouths with laughter. He does this so we’re able to face every obstacle and challenge of life with hope and excitement. Laughter relieves stress and is a powerful spiritual weapon that foils the devil’s plans and delivers victory to us. But laughter has no power until we use it.

Once we start laughing at our problems the enemy runs. That’s because God’s the one who filled our mouth with laughter and the enemy knows he cannot win against God and so he departs. That’ll cause our lips to shout out in victory. The breakthrough we’ve been looking for can simply start by us laughing at our problems rather than crying over them.

This week let’s exercise our laughter. When the devil comes to kill steal & destroy [John 10:10] let’s laugh at him. When he says we’ll never amount to anything let’s laugh even louder. Allow God to fill our mouths with laughter until we’re able to let out a victory shout so loud that the devil can’t stand it. That’s the time when we’ll be rocketing into our future full of happiness, joy and excitement like never before.

Stand Firm…

“Stand firm, and you will win life” Luke 21:19

The tallest tree in a forest is usually the tree that has remained standing the longest. It has stood against every adversity, grown through every season and sent it’s roots deep down into the soil. Now it stands high above all the rest providing shelter from the storms, shade from the heat and hope to all.

Today’s verse tells us that we’re able to be just like this tree. We can become a place of shelter, relief and nourishment to everybody around us. It doesn’t take a theology degree, a leadership role or even a meaningful sermon. It takes just one thing: Standing Firm!

Here are 3 simple, but vital, things that will always help us to stand firm:

  1. Don’t yield to the attack – Romans 6:13
  2. Always get back up – Proverbs 24:16
  3. Don’t look back – Philippians 3:13

As we do these 3 fundamental things we stand firmer than ever before. As we continue in them we become essential shelter, relief & nourishment to many other people. We start providing what others need to help, strengthen and encourage them through life.

This week lets be proactive in standing firm. If there’s an attack, take God’s side. If you get knocked down, stand up again. As you run the race don’t look back just keep moving forward with your eyes on the goal. Before long you’ll be standing tall, standing firm and standing for God. Not only that you’ll also be setup to win life!!!

“For we live by faith, not by sight” 2 Corinthians 5:17

There’s an antelope common to Africa called the Impala. It’s one of their most common and graceful animals. It can jump to a height of 4 metres covering a distance of more than 10. These splendid creatures can be kept in Zoo enclosure with only a 1 metre high wall. None escape because they’re unwilling to jump if they can’t see where their feet will land.

Today’s verse lets us know that escape from our present circumstances isn’t dependent on what we can see in our present situation. We’re told that our future is framed by faith and that everything we presently see has little or no value in bringing change to our future. It’s what we can’t yet see that will deliver change [Romans 4:17].

Many believers live a life fenced about with fear. They won’t jump in faith to a greater future because they don’t know where their feet will land. They believe that escape is impossible. Our verse says that we should JUMP regardless and know that God has a safe landing and a magnificent future ahead for us. This type of faith is what pleases God [Hebrews 11:6].

This week let’s leap over our fears and pursue what faith is calling us to. Fear only ever limits, controls and fences us in. Let’s find a promise in God’s Word about our future and JUMP forward in faith with it. Before long we’ll wonder why we stayed captive so long when God had such a wide, expansive, open life waiting for us [2 Corinthians 6:11-13 Message Translation].
