Healing Words…

“Speech that heals is a tree of life” Proverbs 15:4

Do you remember a time when someone spoke a kind word that lifted your spirit and made your day? It might have been a simple hello with a smile. It may have been an encouragement or part of a conversation you were having. The memory of those soothing words restored something that had been cut and wounded in your soul. You felt better after you were encouraged.

Today’s verse lets us know that soothing, restorative words are a tree of life. Proverbs 12:18 says “What the wise say brings healing.” Wise words, spoken in love, help us heal & recuperate. They become a tree of life in the devastation of reckless and brutal words that people have spoken in the past.

Proverbs 18:21 explains that our words have the power to deliver life. Why then would we want to use them to recklessly stab, thrusts and tear down other people. When we use our words with wisdom they become a healing force that restores and delivers people so they can enter a great and prosperous future.

This week let’s be the person who brings healing to the pierced and wounded people God brings across our path. Let’s choose words of love, kindness and compassion that can take root and grow in someone else’s life. Where words of hurt, baroness and death were planted let’s speak words that become a living tree of life. This week become the person who changes someone’s life by speaking encouraging words that are full of wisdom.

There’s Still Time…

“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven”
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Have you ever felt like you’re running out of time? Does it feel like each year is passing quicker? Christmas just finished and suddenly all the decorations are appearing again in the department stores. Time seem to be fly. How can we get everything done and still have time to enjoy our life, family & friends.

Today’s verse holds a key to slowing life down whilst achieving all God has for us. It tells us that we have time to be a part of God’s plan and achieve every activity He has for us. It also reminds us that there are seasons in life. When we’re comfortable in each season we have enjoyment in life. When we’re doing things out of their season our lives becomes difficult, treacherous and hard to enjoy.

What we need to discover is how to know if we’re doing the right thing in the right season. This is not as difficult to discern as many think. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 lets us know that the Lord of peace himself will give us His peace at all times and in every situation. If we’re doing something for God that isn’t giving us peace then we need to revisit, analyze and decide if it’s really what we’re meant to be doing in this season.

Colossians 3:15 says that the peace that comes from Christ is the umpire of our soul. In other words we’re meant to make decision in our soul determined by the peace Christ gives us in our heart. Then we’re told to be thankful for the peace and the decision it leads us to.

This week let’s connect with the peace that God gives us. As we do, our lives will settle into the rhythm of the season we’re in. This results in us accomplishing every activity that God has ordained us to be a part of and leaves us with ample time to enjoy our life, family & friends.

Turning Life Around…

“Choose life so that you and your children will live”
Deuteronomy 30:19

Have you ever felt like you’re living in a whirlpool of difficulty? Everywhere you look something seems to be going wrong. There are broken relationships, difficult workplaces and rude, opinionated people. You want to run & escape. You want your life restored to one of success and blessing.

Today’s verse lets us know that our choices determine our life. It also reminds us that the choices we make determine whether our children live under a blanket of blessing or in a whirlpool of difficulty. To live blessed is to ensure we make choices that contain life rather than death. Life results from making continual Godly choices.

Every day we’re faced with many choices. God gifted us with a brain and He expects us to use it to choose life. God promised Joshua success when he followed Him and obeyed His Word [Joshua 1]. Joshua’s family was blessed because Joshua made good choices, even in battle. God was continually with Joshua and he overcame every difficulty he faced. Circumstance were never allowed to determined Joshua’s choice and they shouldn’t determine ours either.

This week let’s take responsibility for making good choices. Let’s make our decisions by looking through God’s Word [the Bible] rather than by being driven by circumstance. In no time at all we’ll turn the tide from death, decay and disaster into life, increase and success. Our children will live in the blessing of our decisions and they won’t be drawn into whirlpools of difficulty. Choose well this week; choose life, choose God!

Yes You Can…

“David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone” 1 Samuel 17:49

Have you ever looked at a problem and thought, “There’s no way I can win this”? Even to take all your resources and throw it at the problem wouldn’t help. From every angle it appears unbeatable. It seems bigger, stronger and better equipped than you’ve ever been.

Today’s verse tells us how David solved a similar problem. He was facing Goliath. David’s foe appeared to be unbeatable. David picked up 5 stones and held onto them. When the time for battle arrived David took just 1 of the 5 and quickly conquered his enemy. David was over resourced for victory even though it didn’t look like it.

Often we attempt to solve problems by throwing everything we have at them when a simple solution would suffice. The Bible is filled with simple but effective solutions that equip us to win any battle. We simply need to arm ourselves with at least 5 powerful verses from the river of God [the Bible] and hold them in our heart. When Goliath stands before us we’re equipped to sling one at him and received our victory quickly.

This week let’s get prepared by collecting 5 stones from God’s Word. Find 5 simple verses concerning victory and memorize them. When a problem arises or Goliath appears before you take just one, speak it out and launch it at him. David triumphed this way and so can we. Don’t ever believe the lie that you are under resourced and weak. You have access to God’s Word that is alive, powerful and sharper than any battle sword [Hebrews 4:12]
