“When you make a vow to God, don’t delay fulfilling it, because He does not delight in fools. Fulfill what you vow.”
Nowadays people are amazed when you do what you say? In our hectic society it is easy to make promises and never fulfill them. Our words are easily spoken but the route taken to fulfill them is often neglected & difficult. Even in the Christian world people find it difficult to do what they have promised. The challenge is very real.
Today’s verse reminds us of a simple way to keep our word and have God delight in us. Whenever we make a promise, especially to God, we must fulfill it without delay. We must accomplish our part of the vow as quickly as we can. If we do not then we are fools.
There are many things that people promise God. They often promise to pray more, to financially help others, to serve or help or they even plead with God to get them out of the tight spots in life. God doesn’t forget what we promise to Him. It’s not what we vow, it is that we fulfill our part as quickly as possible.
This week lets allow the Holy Spirit to remind us of the promises we have made to God. Lets allow Him to give us a strategy, bathed in mercy & grace, to fulfill them quickly. As we fulfill them the delight of the Lord will fall upon us. We will be able to walk in fresh favor before both God and man.
