A Real Christmas…

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14

The magnitude of the world’s celebration of Christmas often overshadows the very reason for the season. Shops & malls are adorned with decorations. Cards are sent, bonuses are given, food is prepared. Families come together. Everyone celebrates this holiday but few ever celebrate the true reason for the season.

Today’s verse gives us the reason for this season. The reason is that the Word, Jesus, became flesh and came to dwell with us. It’s not about decorations, trees & lights. It’s not about food, fun & gifts. It is about heaven invading earth. It’s about God’s original intent being restored to mankind.

It may have seemed humble when it started as a baby in a stable but by the time Jesus had completed His Work nothing would ever be the same again. Grace, truth & redemption had been restored. The past was gone and all things had now become new. What was impossible for man was now possible in Jesus. That is the reason we celebrate in this season

This week let’s get real about Christmas. Let’s celebrate with family, friends, food & gifts but let’s not neglect the greater celebration. Jesus became flesh, He dwelt with us, He restored us to God the father. That is worth telling people about. That is worth celebrating. This is the reason for the season.
