Two Lives….

A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold
Proverbs 22:21

Everybody loves a great smorgasbord. The choice to move around the many sumptuous and delicious dishes enjoying as much or little as we please is extremely tempting. The truth is that everybody enjoys choice but every choice has consequences. If we eat too much at the smorgasbord too often, we’ll make ourselves rotund & overweight which really isn’t the desired result.

Today’s verse helps teach us about our choices. We’re told to choose a “good name” over great riches and choose “favor” over silver and gold. Ecclesiastes 7:1 also adds that even a good name is better than a fat bank account. The Bible says that a good name is better than great riches so choose a good name. It says that favor is better than silver & gold so choose favor.

Pursuing riches, gold & silver comes at the cost of favor & a good name. Some people will do anything for money with no concern for favor or a good name. All their gathering of riches eventually costs them everything. They progressively lose favor, they gradually lose a good name and they finally lose everything they had gathered.

This week let’s make some vital choices? Let’s choose to have a good name and the favor of God upon our lives. When we do this we ensure everything we need can come to us. Through opportunity, favor, promise, future & hope everything opens up God’s way. Blessing is simply the result of our choices being in-line with God’s Word rather than matching Greed’s Word. So choose God and you have chosen the best!
