“So David steadily grew greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.”

Each of us passes through seasons where it seems like nothing is increasing like we think it should. These seasons are often the winters of our lives. They are periods of time where everything seems dormant, cold & still. In reality these times enable us to rest & refresh for an upcoming season of growth. An upcoming time of fruitfulness that’ll be arriving soon.
Today’s verse reminds us whenever God is with someone or something it grows greater. It is filled with potential. It will be enlarged, expanded & increase until it becomes greater and then greater still. This increase happens simply because the Lord of hosts is involved. As God is with us He proves His greatness in our lives by making everything greater & greater.
We’re told that David steadily grew greater and greater. It wasn’t instant, miraculous growth. It was steady, continual growth. We can steadily grow greater & greater too. It begins with us working with God. When we unreservedly follow Jesus, He’ll make us stronger, He’ll increase us, He’ll expand us beyond what we were 2 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago or even yesterday.
This week let’s get ready to expand, increase and enlarge our lives. Let’s increase in our knowledge, understanding and intimacy with God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. Let’s allow God to steadily cause us to become greater & greater. As we steadfastly walk with Him & stick with Him our growth will soon be seen by all.
