Heart Attack…

Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for it determines the course of your life.”

Nowadays wherever we go there are people guarding things. Wether it’s the palace, the airport or the shopping centre. People are on guard and protecting whatever they think is valuable.

Proverbs says that you and I should, above everything else, be guarding our hearts. Our heart carries our desires, motivations, and intimate purposes. So, think for a moment about how much energy, finance and time is spent protecting other things while our hearts are left open to attack. We should be guarding it ABOVE ALL ELSE.

There’s very good reason why we do this. Our heart determines the course of our life. Matthew 12:35 says that a good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart. If our heart isn’t protected and healthy then we’ll become sick and eventually discover ourselves far from God’s course for our life.

So, if life is not heading where it should, then our heart is probably under attack. This can happen through gossip, offence, anger, competition or neglect to name a few. But our heart can be made well and restored when we guard it and action Gods Word in our lives.

This week let’s check in with our heart specialist: the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to tell us what’s up and how to rectify it. Before long our life’s course will be restored and we’ll be producing good things from the treasury of a good heart. Above all we must GUARD YOUR HEART!

Above and Before…

Proverbs 4:7 “Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom!”

The journey of life can become busy and overwhelming at times. People rush everywhere trying to do everything they possibly can. Often rapid-fire decisions are made with little forethought. These often prove to be big mistakes that carry a great cost.

In life we need to slow down! Our verse lets us know that God’s way to a successful life is to get His Wisdom above and before everything. This means that God’s Wisdom must come before our plans, desires and schedules and must be placed above our emotions, circumstances and feelings.

Whenever we disregard Wisdom we are heading towards disaster without knowing it.

We can never rush Wisdom; it takes time and energy to gain it. Our bible is chocked full of Wisdom for us to live by. It is there so we can successfully navigate every part of life. The key to getting Wisdom is to slow down and take our time to read, ponder and apply God’s Word to our lives before we do something, not after.

Whenever we prioritize God’s Word in our life we are prioritizing Wisdom in our lives.

This week put God’s Wisdom above and before our personal wisdom. Let’s SLOW DOWN and allow Wisdom to seep into the very depths of our hearts. Allow Wisdom to become the foundation of every decision made. Before long our lives will be flourishing and we will be a people of Wisdom.

Wisdom

A Word Hidden…

Psalm 119:11 “Your word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Children love a game of hide and seek. As one child counts to 10 the others hide. Then the hunt begins to find them. There are often squeals and laughter as each child is found. The better hidden you are the less likely you are to lose the game.

Today’s verse gives us a very important key to building our future. It says we are to take the Word of God and store it in our heart. It is vital that God’s Word is the very center, the heart, of everything we do in life.

The more of God’s Word we store in our hearts means the less likely we are to sin. We will not miss, forfeit or lack the fullness that God has for us when we have His Word in our heart. It strengthens us to remain close to Him and ensures that we won’t easily be led astray.

Each week we post a fresh encouragement from the Bible. These are great words you can hide in your heart. You can visit this blog anytime and read our archives. Why not visit it whenever you feel you have a little extra room in your heart that needs to be filled by God’s Word.

Remember God instructs us because He loves us. Let’s respond to His love by taking His precious Word and storing it in our heart. It will allow our life to prosper like never before and ensure that we are equipped to win in our future!

Merry…

Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart makes well, like medicine”

It is easy to be overwhelmed by the vast array of products we see when entering a pharmacy. Each item promises the good things that it can do for us. The selection is often so great that we need assistance to pick even a simple treatment.

Today’s verse helps us select what is best. It says that a merry heart is fundamental to making us well in a similar way to medicine. Many of us have taken medicine for ailments but few have applied a merry heart to their life to make it well.

A merry heart is simply one that is joyful, glad and rejoicing. As Christians these 3 things reside in us and are meant to be a vital part of living. The problem is that we hide them when we’re not feeling well rather than use them. God says that this is the exact time for us to utilize them.

Now, medications have an important place in healing but above that is our merry hearts. We are made in God’s image and He knows exactly what’s needed to assist our health. He says a merry heart works inside us helping our health to return.

This week let’s use our merry hearts to make us well. Pick an area of life, that isn’t thriving like it should, and let your joy, gladness and rejoicing overflow through it. Like a medication it will get inside the problem, causing wellness to return and victory to be obtained.

Your Time to Flourish…

1 Corinthians 3:6 “I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.”

Have you ever been in a circumstance where you think to yourself a third hand would be really helpful right now? It doesn’t matter what the situation, we all have times when we need help to successfully complete our assignment.

We must remember that we are each created to be dependent on other people. Every person, no matter how competent, needs help. We are each limited physically, intellectually and spiritually. That is why God created us to work with others. It is the very reason that He surrounded us with family, friends, colleagues and spiritual leaders.

As we all work together, each doing our part, an amazing thing happens. God makes that seed grow. That’s right, He is then able to make our tasks flourish, grow and produce fruit! I’m ready for that, how about you?

This week let’s set our sights on flourishing in God by finding the right people to team up with and take on life’s big challenges. This will activate the principle of growth over our lives. Once our part is done then God is able to complete His part. We will soon discover ourselves surrounded by growth. We will experience the sweet fruit of success. God will cause our lives to flourish like never before.

Where’s The Dream…

Matthew 2:9 “…Then the star appeared again, the same star they had seen in the eastern skies. It led them on until it hovered over the place of the child.” [MSG]

Have you ever been on a trip and suddenly realized that you are lost and don’t know where to go? The three wise men had been following their star but then it disappeared for a while! What did they do? They simply waited for its return before moving ahead.  It reappeared and successfully led them to their destination.

Often in life’s journey God places a dream in our hearts. In some seasons we are led with clear direction concerning our dream while in other seasons it seems we are not. During these times we must wait on God like the three wise men. When the dream direction re-appears we are to start moving ahead again according to God’s leading without any doubt that we are on our journey again.

This week spend time in God’s presence letting the Holy Spirit minister life back into the God dreams in your heart. The humble star that appeared to the three wise men knew exactly where to take them. Be confident that the Holy Spirit knows specifically what you are seeking from God and He will guide you safely to that destination.

All The Right Ingredients…

Psalms 19:14 “Let the WORDS of my mouth and the meditation of my HEART , be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my STRENGTH and my REDEEMER.” [NKJV]

Don’t settle for your thoughts when you can choose God’s thoughts! Here’s how it works… This particular verse shows us that the emphasis is on us to keep our WORDS and HEARTS in check.

We are instructed that we will come into God’s acceptable sight when the WORDS we speak and the thoughts of our HEART are in line with His Word. As we apply this in our lives He becomes our manifest LORD, STRENGTH and REDEEMER.

God has always been careful with His words and His thoughts toward us… we should be the same! Our WORDS are influential and they are powerful forces that flow from our HEARTS. We must take great care with them in our daily lives.

The message bible says it so beautifully…

Psalm 19:14 “These are the words in my mouth; these are what I chew on and pray. Accept them when I place them on the morning altar, O God, my Altar-Rock, God, Priest-of-My-Altar.” (MSG)

So if you want to enjoy God’s acceptable sight towards you today, chew on His thoughts, words and ways and place your WORDS and your HEART on His altar in prayer.
