“…for God has said, “I will never leave you or abandon you”
Before we were even conceived, before we were formed in our mother’s womb Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that God knew us. Not only does He know us but Luke 12:27 says that he knows everything about us to the minutest detail. God knows us and He has a purpose & plan for our future that is beyond whatever we can ask or think. But it’s easy for us to forget this and feel lonely and abandoned.
Today’s verse helps us to understand that God has a powerful and unique promise to each and every one of us. That promise is that HE’LL NEVER LEAVE OR ABANDON US. It doesn’t matter how savage or destructive the storm are that batters our lives, God is not separating from us. He is sticking with us and His power will be there to help & deliver us out of every circumstance.
We can tend to forget what we promise but God never forgets His promises. If He says He’ll be with us then that’s where He’ll be. He doesn’t forget us and He doesn’t forget what He said He will do. We need to take strength in this and anchor ourselves into this Truth…. “He remembers me, He’s with me and He’s not leaving me!”
This week no matter how tough life’s storms are let’s remember that God is there with us right now and He has a plan to prosper us into our tomorrow. There’s a testimony that’s coming from the trial we’re passing through so don’t stop and don’t stand still in this season. Grab hold of God’s promise instead and race into the future with Him. You’ll be glad you did.
God, your God, is with you every step you take.”
What scares people the most? Terrorism? Cancer? Death? Unemployment? There are plenty of things that could top the fear list but the number one thing seems to be loneliness. 6 out of every 10 people say they often feel lonely. 1/3 of these have little help to get past their feelings. Loneliness can be like a prison cell, a prison cell we’re not meant to be in.
Todays verse reminds us that we are never alone. Every day, every step of the way, God is with us. He doesn’t leave us [Hebrews 13:5], even if our journey gets difficult, distasteful or painful. He is with us step, by step, by step. He helps us forward into a better & more prosperous future.
Now, in the earlier part of our verse, we discover some keys to breaking through. The believer is reminded to remain strong & courageous. We’re to confidently let go of the prison bars of fear & discouragement that contain us. We must break out & realize that God is ready to walk us into our future. He’ll be there every step of the way so we will never be alone.
This week is a week to break free. No matter what fears & discouragements we may be facing let’s not isolate ourselves. Let’s be strong & courageous instead. Let’s break out and step into our future. Let’s remember that God, our God; the one who called everything we see into place [Hebrews 11:3], is with us every step of the way. He’ll walk us through to a victory that is far beyond what we could even ask or imagine. [Ephesians 3:20]
“I am the light of the world.
No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness.
I provide plenty of light to live in.”
Have you ever stumbled around in the night looking for a light switch? It’s hard not to bang & bump into things that can’t be seen. It’s very difficult to remember exactly where everything is and so much noise is produced that everyone is woken up. If only there was a small amount of light things would become so much easier. Once we have some light things becomes visible and are easily found. Peace & tranquility return quickly.
This week’s verse lets us know the value of having true light in our lives. Jesus reminds us that He is this light to everyone. Without Jesus people will clumsily stumble around in darkness trying to find their own way through life. With Jesus we’re guaranteed there’s no stumbling, no darkness & plenty of light. Following Jesus means we can live our lives His way: productive, purposeful and with peace & tranquility.
There is plenty of light for our lives when we follow Jesus. There are no dark places where His light cannot shine & overcome [John 1:5]. His light never leaves or abandons us [Hebrews 13:5]. His light shines through our lives causing others to glorify God in Heaven [Matthew 5:16].
So, this week lets not stumble around in darkness. Let’s take this powerful promise from Jesus & enter fully into His Life of true light. By following Him & what He says in His Word, we’ll become sure-footed & stable. Our future will be visible. The road ahead will become more productive & purposeful filling up with His peace & tranquility.
“I am the Alpha & the Omega, the First & the Last,
the Beginning & the End”
It’s impossible to finish something that’s never been started. A race cannot be won unless we leave the starting line. A cake cannot be baked unless we first gather the ingredients. A masterpiece cannot be painted without inspiration. If we have the right stuff at the beginning then the finished product will be better than expected.
This weeks verse is Jesus speaking. He’s letting us know how we can have fullness in everything we do. Whenever we include Jesus at the start of anything, He’ll help us carry it onto completion. He’ll stick with it all the way to the end [Philippians 1:6]. But, if we decide not to embrace Jesus at the beginning we’ll be on our own. We’ll be responsible for the outcome, not Him.
January is the perfect time of the year to put Jesus into our 2017. Lets include Him & His way of doing things into every project, task & test we face. Remembering that Jesus will never fail or abandon us [Hebrews 13:5]. Now, it’s easy for us to make excuses & have reasons why we can’t. But let’s be intentional & deliberate this year and just make it happen.
In the week ahead let’s get 2017 off to the right start. Let’s not concern ourselves with our already failed New Years resolutions. Let’s start today by being intentional & deliberate about including Jesus in everything. Let’s make sure we’re doing things His way & not ours. In no time at all we’ll be looking back over this year exclaiming how glad we are that we included Jesus & did things His way.
