Don’t leave me behind…

Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”

Have you ever left home in a rush and when nearing your destination suddenly remembered something that you were meant to bring. It’s often too late to return and get it so you arrive without it. You make apologies and try to get by but it’s often difficult.

Todays verse reminds us of 2 very important things that we’re to take everywhere – no exception! The helmet of salvation is what protects our minds from the onslaught of the world’s way of thinking. Whereas the sword of the Spirit is simply the Word of God. They are both spiritually essential to have with us every minute of every day.

Mercifully, if we realize that we’re without either one of these we don’t have to run back home to get them. The revelation of our salvation can be pulled up at anytime and be used to protect our minds. Accessing the Word of God on the other hand is determined by how much of it we know. John 8:31 says that when we live in His word, we are His disciples. This gives us the right to use His sword. The more of His Word we know then the sharper this sword can be – ready for victory.

This week lets keep reminding ourselves how great a salvation our Lord Jesus delivered to us. Doing this will protect our minds and deny access to worldly thinking. Then let’s open up God’s Word; the Bible and allow it to speak to us. Lets sharpen our swords with it and prepare for victory every day.

Remember… don’t leave them behind!
