Simeon Saw A Star…

“In Jerusalem at the time, there was a man, Simeon by name, a good man, a man who lived in the prayerful expectancy of help for Israel. And the Holy Spirit was on him”
Luke 2:25

The bible shows us that Simeon was in the area when Jesus was born. He could have seen the star that showed the birth. Simeon had a very unique role to play and a Godly strength that we can learn from. Simeon was a man of prayer!

Simeon is a powerful character from the bible. We’re told that he is a good man, a prayerful man and because of this the Holy Spirit was on him. At this time Simeon knew that God was up to something and he was prayerfully expectant. In other words, the Holy Spirit was drawing Simeon into prayer knowing that the Messiah was about to be born.

When we do things God’s way, like a good person does. As we pray in obedience the Holy Spirit draws in close to us. Doing that is a simple way to get the presence of God all over our lives. Then at the same time we’ll also become involved in prayer that will change the world. Now who wouldn’t want to be a part of all that God is doing?

This week let’s simply follow the example of Simeon. During this Christmas season let’s determine in our heart to live a good life, one that is in line with what the bible teaches. Let’s start praying with expectancy towards the promises of God and before long the Holy Spirit will be on us and we’ll be so glad we did!
