So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us.” If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision – you’ll see it yet!”
Philippians 3:15
It’s always a tense moment in a basketball game when winning comes down to one final hoop. The shooter focuses on getting that ball in the hoop and he permits nothing to steal his focus. Then, almost in slow motion, the ball leaves his hands, moves through the air and lands exactly where he wants. The cheer goes up and the game is won.
Today’s verse encourages us to keep focused on the goal that God has for us. It’s easy to lose our concentration or have it stolen by all the noise and clamour of the world. Just when we think we’ve mastered it something comes up and distracts us, leading us away from our commitment to Him.
This is a very powerful key to living an overcoming life. If we lose focus, allowing our vision to become blurred, we end up missing out on what God intends us to have. But if we keep focused on His goal with total commitment, we end up with everything God has for us. This week, if you feel like you’ve lost some of your focus or your goals have become a little blurred do what this verse says. Ask God to clear your blurred vision and help you get recommitted. Just like our basketball game everything will begin to slow down and you’ll easily be able to focus on God’s goal for you and have the winning edge to succeed.
