Future Proof…

For no word from God will ever fail
Luke 1:37

Words are an extremely powerful & creative force [Proverbs 18:21]. Each day people allow words to stream from their mouths oftentimes unhindered and unchecked. Every word that we hear leaves us with a choice to either accept or disregard it. The words we don’t disregard are the ones that fashion and form our future.

Today’s verse lets us know that when we receive God’s Word it never fails to produce abundantly good fruit in our lives. God’s Word produces success, future & hope in every situation. Even if it seems impossible, when we allow God’s Word to enter, things begin to move & change. But we must receive His Word to obtain its benefits [1 Thessalonians 2:13].

People will often speak encouraging words to each other. Other times the words shared are harmful and destructive. We must refuse to accept the wrong words and replace them with what God’s Word says. GOD’S WORD WILL NEVER FAIL US! Whenever we accept what God says we’ll get Godly results. These results will transform & renew every part of our lives.

This week let’s take a moment to refuse the harmful & destructive words that have been spoken to us. Let’s take God’s Word and replace the bad words with what He says. Let’s allow the “Word that never fails” to transform us towards a flourishing future. It’s a future that’s filled with God’s purpose & plan. It’s a future where the impossible changes into the possible. It’s the future we want, so let’s do it.

Words Of Healing…

Speech that heals is a tree of life
Proverbs 15:4

Do you remember a time when someone spoke a kind word that lifted your spirit and made your day? It might have been a simple hello with a smile. It may have been an encouragement or part of a conversation you were having. The memory of those soothing words restored something that had been cut & wounded in your soul. You felt better after you were encouraged.

Today’s verse lets us know that soothing, restorative words are a tree of life. Proverbs 12:18 says “What the wise say brings healing.” Wise words, spoken in love, help us heal & recuperate. They become a tree of life in the devastation of reckless and brutal words that people have spoken in the past.

Proverbs 18:21 explains that our words have the power to deliver life. Why then would we want to use them to recklessly stab, thrusts and tear down other people. When we use our words with wisdom, they become a healing force that restores and delivers people so they can enter a great & prosperous future.

This week let’s be the person who brings healing to the pierced and wounded people God brings across our path. Let’s choose words of love, kindness and compassion that can take root and grow in someone else’s life. Wherever words of hurt, baroness & death were planted let’s start speaking words that become a living tree of life. This week become the person who changes someone’s life by speaking encouraging words that are full of wisdom.

Living Words…

If a person thinks that they serve God, and does not control their tongue, deceiving their own heart, this person’s service is worthless.
James 1:26

The result of a motor vehicle going out of control is devastation. When it’s properly controlled it is of great benefit and service to those travelling in it. Out of control it harms those in it and those around it. It can hurt, kill and destroy very quickly.

Today’s verse tells us about something even more destructive than this. It tells us about our tongue. This includes every word that we speak. People casually let every thought they have escape as words from their mouths. Doing this is not harmless or Godly. It’s actually a bad habit we need to stop.

James 3 tells us that words are behind everything that happens in life. When we understand this, we can ensure that our speech will cause us to prosper in life rather than enter death [Proverbs 18:21]. It is a challenge to make this change but when we do our service becomes valuable to God rather than worthless.

This week let’s continue on our journey to control our tongues by becoming more vigilant with what we say. Let’s consider carefully the words we use. Think of each spoken word as a seed that is going to bear fruit tomorrow. Ask yourself is that really what I want tomorrow to look like? If it’s not then don’t let the words escape your lips. Learn to prophesy your tomorrow by using the life-giving words you speak today.

Wanted…

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit”
Proverbs 18:21

Some people like to watch a good cowboy movie especially on a wet afternoon. As the good guys pursue the bad guys we often see a sign with the villains picture that says “Wanted Dead or Alive.” The good guys keep chasing them down until they have their man.

Today’s verse tells us exactly who the villain in our life is; it’s our tongue, or more practically, the words that we speak. Each time we open our mouth we have the choice to speak words that bring life or ones that produce death. If we speak words of life then we eat the fruit of a great life.

Whenever we hear ourselves not speaking words of life we need to pause for a moment, think, and then speak out fresh living words. As we do areas that we have struggled in will start to change. Good stuff will begin to grow and our lives will start to flourish. This happens as we correctly tend the words we speak.

This week let’s be like the good guys in the movie and pursue words of life. Let’s take time to listen to ourselves and catch any words of death. Let’s not get get concerned with the words others speak, lets just focus on our words and ourselves. As we do our life will begin to change as we enter a future that we’re glad to be a part of.

An Investment In Your Future…

“So speak encouraging WORDS to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11

Most of us have vivid memories from school when teams where selected for sporting events? Team captains would pick the strongest and most capable whilst the weakest were left until last. One of the greatest fears was being left out, the last one picked or not even being allowed to participate in the event.

Today’s verse reminds us how God wants to change all that. Our verse says that no one is to be left out & no one is to be left behind. It doesn’t matter if they’re weak, fearful or seemingly incapable. They are on the journey with us. We are all meant to move constantly forward together and we don’t stop… ever. We are to build each other up always.

We should be consistently speaking encouraging WORDS that build hope in each other. As we do this we all move forward as one. WORDS cost us absolutely nothing but each one can change a person’s life forever. Each WORD we speak produces eternally impacting results. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that death and life are in the power of our tongue and James teaches us to tame our tongues [James 3]. The WORDS we speak are meant to enable other people to grow. They allow others to be encouraged. They allow others to flourish.

This week let’s work on our WORDS. Let’s use our WORDS to build up and include others in our journey. Once we start this… let’s not stop. Let’s keep on doing it consistently. This creates zeal & enthusiasm in our world and zeal & enthusiasm are contagious. It fills people with future, hope and unity. Why not speak WORDS of encouragement to others this week!

The Right Ingredients…

“May the words from my mouth and the thoughts from my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my defender”
Psalms 19:14

Some people speak some pretty silly things. Other people accept some pretty silly thoughts. Our words & our thoughts are 2 ingredients that produce our future. If our ingredients are wrong our future will be wrong. But a simple adjustment can produce a dramatically different future for any believer.

Today’s verse reminds us to keep our WORDS and our HEARTS in check. We come into God’s acceptable sight when the WORDS we speak and the thoughts of our HEART are in line with His Word. If our words & thoughts are not adequate to bring to God’s altar we shouldn’t be having them. When they are acceptable they produce a powerful future.

God has always been careful with His words & His thoughts toward us. We should be the same! Why do we settle for our thoughts when we can choose God’s thoughts! Even the WORDS we speak are an influential and powerful force [Proverbs 18:21] that flow from our HEARTS. When our words & thoughts are right in our life God is elevated to be our Lord, rock & defender.

This week let’s adjust our words & thoughts to line up with God’s Word. Let’s not allow negative, toxic or destructive words to exist in us. Let’s find what is acceptable to God and chew on it, consuming it into our lives. Meditate on God’s thoughts, Words and Ways of doing things. Allow His WORDS to enter & change our HEARTS as we bring them to His altar in prayer.

Cheer Up…

“Anxiety weighs a person down but an
ENCOURAGING WORD cheers a person up.”
Proverbs 12:25

Has anyone ever spoken a few words to you that have simply made your day? A few words that have lifted, encouraged & strengthened you when everything else looked bleak. We can make a huge difference in someone else’s life simply by speaking a few well-chosen & uplifting words. A few kind words can really make someone’s day.

Todays verse reminds us about the effect of speaking encouraging words. We understand that the words we speak are powerful. They are vessels carrying either life or death [Proverbs 18:21]. What we speak can influence someone for years to come. Destructive words will cut & wound deeply. Encouraging words will lift & help someone make it through their day, week & year.

Don’t underestimate the impact that our words have. Be on the lookout for people who need encouragement. Look for those who seem heavy, worried or anxious. Tell them what God’s Word says about them [Jeremiah 29:11]. Let them know things will change. Share the good news of the gospel for a great future. Lift their day with a few well-chosen & encouraging words.

This week let’s get passionate about encouraging others. Let’s become the encouragement that someone else needs. Let’s allow the impact of our words to be positive & uplifting. Let’s bring light into their darkness & hope into their hopelessness. It’s all done through the words we share with them. So let choose words that encourage, build & lead to a great future.
