“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you”
Psalm 119:11

Most people have a pantry or cupboard where they store many of the things they’ll use to create beautiful food and meals. Every now & then we must check our pantry, restocking that which is missing & throwing out that, which is out-of-date or spoiled.

Today’s verse lets us know that we should check our spiritual pantry out regularly. This is our heart, the place where we store God’s Word. Our heart is the very centre of our lives; we’re told that all issues of life flow from it [Proverbs 4:23] and out of its abundance our mouth speaks [Luke 6:45].

Knowing this makes checking our spiritual pantry easy. We just need to look over our lives and then listen to what flows from our mouth. Soon enough we’ll know exactly how our heart is going. If everything is fresh, full of life & faith we know that God’s Word is plentiful in our hearts. If we discover our pantry is empty, out-of-date & rotting with sin then we know it’s time for a clean-out. It’s time to restock our heart with the fresh Word of God.

This week is the time to “Spring Clean” our heart. Let’s take some time and check our heart to ensure that the Word of God is abundant, fresh and vibrant there. When it is, rivers of living waters will flow from our mouths into the lives of everyone we speak with. We’ll be better for it and we’ll cause life to come to others abundantly.

Hidden Words…

“Your word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
Psalm 119:11

Children love a game of hide and seek. As one child counts to 10 the others hide. Then the hunt begins to find them. There are often squeals and laughter as each child is found. The better hidden they are the less likely they are to lose the game.

Today’s verse gives us a very important key to building our future. It says we are to take the Word of God and store it in our heart. It’s vital that God’s Word is the very centre, the heart, of everything we do in life. The more of God’s Word we store in our hearts means the less likely we are to sin. We will not miss, forfeit or lack the fullness that God has for us when we have His Word in our heart.

God’s Word strengthens us so we can remain close to Him. It ensures that we won’t easily be led astray. The Bible contains an abundance of great Words all designed to be hidden & stored in our heart. Whenever we feel like we have a little extra heart room let’s fill it with God’s Word for our future.

This week let’s remember God instructs us because He loves us. Let’s respond to His love by taking His precious Word and storing even more of it in our heart. This will not only allow our life to prosper like never before but it will ensure that we are equipped to enter a winning future!

Spring Cleaning…

Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I may not sin against You”

Have you ever been “spring cleaning” only to find an old wallet or purse? When you open it up there’s a little money hidden inside. You’d forgotten all about it but nonetheless it was safely stored away awaiting your discovery. It felt great to find that money.

Today’s verse reminds us of something we should be hiding in our heart like we hide money in a wallet. We’re told to cover, hoard and reserve God’s Word in our heart so that it brings protection. Whenever we hide His Word in our heart we’re enabling it to become a part of our today and also to form our tomorrow. When God’s Word is in our heart it protects us from sin.

God’s Word only gets into our heart if we put it there. Putting it there involves reading, speaking & remembering it. As we speak God’s Word out aloud our ears will hear it and it will go into our heart. As we keep pondering on it, praying about it and speaking it out it’ll go even deeper.

This week let’s change our future by hiding more of God’s Word in our hearts. Even if it’s only a single verse this week lets get it into our heart. Once it’s there it’ll stop us from sinning and will begin to change our future. God’s future for you is powerful so hide His Word in your heart and let His protection surround you today.
