You Choose….

Proverbs 22:21 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold

Everybody loves a great smorgasbord. The choice to move around the many sumptuous and delicious dishes enjoying as much or little as we please is extremely tempting. The truth is that everybody enjoys choice but every choice has consequence. If we eat too much at the smorgasbord too often we’ll make ourselves rotund & overweight which really isn’t the desired result.

Today’s verse helps teach us about our choices. We’re told to choose a “good name” over great riches and “favor” over silver and gold. Ecclesiastes 7:1 also adds that even a good name is better than a fat bank account.

Our verse explains that pursuing riches, gold & silver will come at the cost of favor & a good name. Certain people will do anything for money. As long as they have their money they care little for favor or a good name. Gathering riches eventually costs them everything as they progressively lose favor, a good name and everything they gathered.

If the bible says that a good name is better than great riches then it is and I choose a good name.

If the bible says that favor is better than silver & gold then it is and I choose favor.

So why make these 2 vital choices? The reason is that when we have a good name and the favor of God upon our lives then everything we need can come to us. Through opportunity, favor, promise, future & hope everything opens up God’s way. Blessing is the result of our choices being in-line with God’s Word rather than Greed’s Word so choose God and you choose the best!
