Gladiators…

“Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm…”
Ephesians 6:11

We’ve all seen them in the movies, seemingly invincible people who always win. They’re clad in armor, rippling with muscles having seemingly unending strength. No matter what’s thrown against them they rise, conquer & are victorious. They are the Gladiators of Hollywood fame.

Today’s verse talks about God’s Gladiators. The word gladiator simply means “man of the sword”. Every believer should be a man or woman of God’s sword. In other words we should be skilled in the use of God’s Word, which is the Sword of the Spirit. As skilled as one can be, we must continually remember to stay dressed in God’s armor. If we don’t, we’ll fall in the battle rather than standing firm.

A gladiator’s victory is available to us when we’re decked out in God’s armor. Having the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, holding up faith’s shield. WE must be covered by salvation’s helmet as we brandish God’s word; His sword, praying in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.

This week let’s become gladiators of God. Let’s be people of His Word. Let’s get our gear on by ensuring every part of our armor is in place. Then we’re equipped for the battle. We can move forward in life knowing we can win. If we never take our armor off we’ll always be ready to rise, conquer & have victory.
