“Then, when they had rowed about 3 or 4 miles, they saw JESUS walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened.”
In life we often have a huge list of things to get done. Then even more things get added. It’s easy for us to get bogged down with the pressure of completing everything. When what we can do, collides with what we have to do, we start looking around for solutions.
In today’s verse we see the disciples discovering a powerful solution to their dilemma. They have a huge to-do list. They’re on the open sea with the wind blowing hard against them. Most of the night they’ve been rowing, fighting the sea and standing against the storm. They’ve been doing all they can in the natural to get safely to their goal. Then suddenly they see JESUS!
How long had Jesus been there? Possibly He’d been walking right near them all night. They hadn’t noticed because they were so busy dealing with all the circumstances around them. As soon as they noticed JESUS, He stepped into their boat and everything was okay. They instantly arrived at their destination.
This week lets not get bogged down in our present failing to see JESUS right next to us. Victory is assured whenever JESUS is with us. He keeps pace alongside us but unless we see Him, acknowledge Him and invite Him on-board we don’t have success. We’ve all paddled against life’s storms long enough, so today let Jesus step into the boat so He can deliver us to our destination.
