That Place…

He named that place Bethel [House of God]
Genesis 28:19

Every place has a name. Place names are significant. Place names are anchored to locations, labeling & describing them. They serve as markers concerning their history & happenings. Once a place has a name it becomes very difficult to change it.

Todays verse let’s us know about a place that Jacob named. Jacob was on the run & ended up in the middle of nowhere, sleeping on a rock having a God dream filled with promise. It was a dream that would stay with him forever. After the experience Jacob named that place Bethel, The House of God. It was a place where Jacob encountered God. It was a place that God promised to return him to continually [Genesis 28:15].

God gave Jacob that place; in the same way He gives every believer a place. It is the House of God, His Church. It is a place where we’ll encounter God. It is a place that God will continually return us to. It is a place where He’ll stick with us, protect us & fulfill every promise to us. [Genesis 28:13-15]. Jacob said that God’s House is “Incredible. Wonderful. Holy.” [Genesis 28:17] He said it is “The Gateway of Heaven.” [Genesis 28:17]

This week let’s get back into the House of God… your Local Church. It’s time to enter that place where God can protect & fulfill every one of His promises. It’s time to realize how truly incredible, wonderful & Holy the Church is. Let’s not allow pride, arrogance or pain to stop us from entering God’s House. It is created deliberately so that we can flourish [Psalm 92:13]. So why not let your dreams begin this week by being a part of your Local Church.

Stick With Him….

“I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.”
Lamentations 3:24

Have you ever mailed a letter only to have it returned because the stamp fell off? You clearly remember addressing it, affixing the stamp and mailing it. Somewhere in the extensive delivery process the stamp became detached. The carrier refused to deliver the letter & it was returned. If the stamp had remained stuck everything would’ve been good. But separation caused the delivery to become unstuck not just the stamp.

Today’s verse let’s us know about sticking to God. The prophet Jeremiah can’t emphasize enough how important this is. He says it over & over so that we’ll get it. Jeremiah had discovered that he couldn’t stick to anything else in life that would deliver besides God. If he became separated nothing in his life would work. When Jeremiah remained attached & immovable to God everything arrived just as planned.

Why live life unstuck from God. When we are separated things don’t go well. We keep being returned to life’s starting point just like our returned letter. We keep doing the same cycle over & over again because we’re unstuck. This doesn’t only affect us it also affects everyone around us. It affects our family, friends & our relationships. But when we stick with God through everything, life goes so much better.

This week let’s get sticky with God. Let’s make God our only option in every situation. Let’s stay stuck to Him no matter how difficult it gets. Let’s stay stuck even when things desperately try to separate us. Let’s ensure we can be fully delivered into our future stuck to our God. He will never fail or forsake us [Deuteronomy 31:8]. He is with us, will keep us & will deliver us to our land of promise [Genesis 28:15]
