The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army
Habakkuk 3:19
People often remember others by the experiences they’ve had when they’ve spent time together. If they’ve been entertaining then they’re fun people, if they talk lots they’re chatty, if they like taking risks they’re exciting. Other people may have a completely different perception. Each person’s perception is dependent on his or her own experience & time shared together.
In today’s verse the prophet Habakkuk declares how he sees God. What he shares is very, very powerful. He says that God is his strength, his personal bravery and his invincible army. When Habakkuk spent time with God, as he lingered in His presence, that’s what he saw. It was enough to answer everything he needed and every problem he faced.
So how do you see God? Many believers see Him as the sender of trials, disasters and difficult time. Others think he sends sickness, disease and distress. None of this could be further from the truth given in His Word, the Bible. Our God is good, trustworthy and faithful. He is strong, brave and invincible.
This week let’s take a new look at God by spending some time with Him. Let’s forget about what others have said or ideas that we’ve held onto for years. Let’s just open up our bible and start reading His Word afresh – like we’ve never seen it before. In no time at all we’ll discover our God. The one who is our strength, our personal bravery and our invincible army just as He was to Habakkuk.
