Relaxation…

Be still, and know that I am God…
Psalms 46:10

We live in a fast-paced world fascinated with rapid & instant results. It’s easy to get caught up in the rush as we strive to get everything done as soon as possible if not sooner. Our lives become so hurried that we find ourselves standing in front of the microwave tapping our foot thinking, “Come on… hurry up!” They call this the “microwave generations” because of its impatience.

Today’s verse lets us know that God doesn’t always operate in the hustle and bustle that we’ve created. Rather than rushing everything we’re told to slow it down and “be still.” This means we’re to cease striving and let go, stepping out of our busy lives and recognizing what God is doing above everything else that is happening.

As we relax & slow our lives down, we’re given the vital opportunity to take a long and loving look at our creator. This results in Godly order and structure returning to our lives and we’re enabled to see life His way rather than our own. What was once rushed mayhem now becomes a fruitful and vibrant God centred life. Resulting in God becoming exalted in the nations, the whole earth and us.

This week let’s take some time to stop. Let’s be still for a few minutes each day so we can set our thoughts solely on Him. Let’s not become impatient or distracted as we do this. In no time at all we’ll find God in our solitude and He’ll embrace us in His peace. Life will become much clearer and God will be highly exalted again in our lives.
