David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone
1 Samuel 17:49
Have you ever looked at a problem and thought, “There’s no way I can win in this”? Even to take all your resources and throw it at the problem wouldn’t help. From every angle it appears unbeatable. It seems bigger, stronger & better equipped than you’ve ever been.
Today’s verse tells us how David solved a similar problem. He was facing Goliath. David’s foe appeared to be unbeatable. David picked up 5 stones and held onto them. When the time for battle arrived, David took just 1 of the 5 and quickly conquered his enemy. David was over resourced for victory even though it didn’t look like it.
Often, we attempt to solve problems by throwing everything we have at them when a simple solution would suffice. The Bible is filled with simple but effective solutions that equip us to win any battle. We simply need to arm ourselves with at least 5 powerful verses from the river of God [the Bible] and hold them in our heart. When Goliath stands before us, we’re equipped to sling one at him and receive our victory quickly.
This week let’s get prepared by collecting 5 stones from God’s Word; 5 simple verses concerning victory that we can memorize. When a problem arises or Goliath appears before you take just one, speak it out and launch it at him. David triumphed this way and so can we. Don’t ever believe the lie that you are under resourced & weak. You have access to God’s Word that is alive, powerful and sharper than any battle sword [Hebrews 4:12]
