Don’t Leave Them Behind…

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
 Ephesians 6:17

Have you ever left home in a rush and when nearing your destination suddenly remembered you were meant to bring something? It’s often too late to return and get it so you arrive without it. You make apologies and try to get by, but it’s often difficult.

Today’s verse reminds us of 2 very important things that we’re to take everywhere – no exception! The helmet of salvation to protect our minds from the onslaught of the world’s way of thinking and the sword of the Spirit which is simply the Word of God. They are both spiritually essential to have with us every minute of every day.

Mercifully, if we realize that we’re without either one of these we don’t have to run back home to get them. The revelation of our salvation can be pulled up at any time and used to protect our minds. Accessing the Word of God on the other hand is determined by how much of it we know. John 8:31 says that when we live in His word, we are His disciples. The more of His Word we know then the sharper our sword can become.

This week let’s remind ourselves how great a salvation our Lord Jesus delivered. This knowledge will protect our minds and deny access to worldly way of thinking. Then as we open God’s Word; the Bible and allow it to speak to us we’ll sharpen our swords & be prepared for new victories each & every day.
