Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God
Have you ever heard a person defend their actions with these words “I just thought…”? It’s not a very good excuse because scientists say that a person has up to 70,000 thoughts in a day. That’s almost a thought every second. This shows that our mind is an extremely busy place but not every thought we have is right nor is each one valuable.
The Apostle Paul helps us today by describing what he does with his thought life. He says that when he thinks of another person, he gives thanks to God for them. Now, Paul doesn’t tell us whether he’s thinking good or bad thoughts about these people. What he does say is that he brings every thought into captivity [2 Corinthians 10:5] and then thanks God for that person regardless.
Can you imagine how quickly the voice of the enemy could be shut down in our minds if we do what Paul did? If every thought we have about another person is responded to by giving thanks to God for them? Suddenly the devil, the accuser of the brethren, would become silent. The louder we get with thanks, the quieter he’ll become.
This week let’s give thanks to God for each & every person that we think of. No matter how good, bad or indifferent they are to us. Let’s lift our voices to heaven to thank God for them. This will cause a peace to come upon our soul, as the devil pulls back and God draws near. We’ll definitely be praying for you so make sure you pray for others.
