A Minutes Peace…

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you
John 14:27

One of the childhood joys of Christmas is the opening of the gifts. The brightly coloured wrapping makes each present highly desirable. Their unknown contents make them intriguing & captivating. As each layer of packaging is quickly stripped away, we’re left with a new possession. Something that now belongs to us. Something that is ours to keep, use & cherish. Something that we need even when we don’t realize it.

Today’s verse lets us know about a gift that Jesus has left for us. It is the gift if peace. This peace is not worldly peace that is surrounded by trouble, fear and the possibility of loss. It is His gift of peace that comes with no strings attached. It is the perfect peace that flows only from Jesus. It is the peace that delivers every time we need it. It is the peace we need to make it through each day.

This time of year can become hectic & stressful no matter how organized we are. Don’t wait to become overwhelmed, troubled & fearful. Instead open a Christmas gift early. Let’s open the gift of peace that Jesus has left for us. Let’s allow the waves of peace from heaven to wash over us. Let each one dispel trouble, fear & concern. It may only take a few minutes but we’ll be feeling much calmer & settled after we’ve receive this gift again from Jesus.

This week let’s take a few minutes throughout our day to consciously acknowledge the gift of peace in our life. Jesus gave His life so that we could have and experience His peace. It would be utter foolishness to leave His gift behind and pursue the world’s way to peace in its place. Acknowledging Jesus and His gift of peace will activate it in our lives immediately. So don’t stress, worry or breakdown. Receive from Jesus His gift of peace and enjoy this season of celebration.

Your Peace…

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives”

John 14:27

Has someone ever left you a gift? They may have told you where it was or simply left it where they knew you’d find it. As soon as you discover the gift its ownership passes to you. It is now your belonging. It is now your possession. It’s value, worth & significance now belongs to you. You can choose to use it or to lose it.

Today’s verse is an exceptional one to ponder. Jesus has left PEACE for us as a gift. This PEACE isn’t just any PEACE; it’s His own personal PEACE. It’s the PEACE that exceeds anything we can understand. [Philippians 4:7]. It’s the PEACE that guards our hearts and minds [Philippians 4:7]. It’s not a PEACE that comes from our financial security or through a victorious fight; it is the PEACE that comes from Jesus alone.

We now own His PEACE; it is our legacy. When Jesus died & rose again He intentionally left it here for us and He doesn’t want it back. The world gives things & then wants them back but not Jesus. His PEACE cannot be taken from us by anyone or anything. So don’t live life agitated and disturbed. Don’t receive fear & intimidation. These things try to rob us of PEACE but they cannot have it unless we allow them.

This week, let’s be aware of the PEACE we’ve received from Jesus as our inheritance. He gave His life so that we could have it. Let’s not allow any situation, circumstance or distraction to steal this PEACE from us. The PEACE Jesus gave is vital for our survival in this world. That’s why we can never let it go. His PEACE is yours, walk in it from this day on!!!

Inherit Peace…

John 14:27 “PEACE I leave with you; My [own] PEACE I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]” [AMP]

This is an exceptional verse to ponder; it is very strong in our spirit for you this week.

Jesus is saying that He is leaving PEACE with us. Not just any PEACE though but “His peace”. This is not PEACE because of your financial security or through a victory in war; it is the PEACE that comes from Jesus alone.

Now, not only is He leaving PEACE, not only is He giving PEACE, He is also bequeathing it to us. This means it is a legacy to us when He died. Jesus did die and He rose again. His peace is now our PEACE. His PEACE has been left, given and bequeathed to both you and me.

The PEACE of Jesus is given in a different way to how the world gives things. Whatever the world gives it can take away. The PEACE that Jesus gives cannot be taken away by anyone or anything. This is why Jesus can say, “stop allowing yourself to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourself to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled”. These will rob us of our peace so Jesus says do not allow or permit them in our lives.

The PEACE from Jesus is our inheritance. He gave His life so we can have PEACE, it is yours, walk in it from this day on!!!
