Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path
Proverbs 4:25-26
Whenever my dad ploughed a field he would look for a tree on the other side of the pasture, focus on it and then drive the plough straight towards it. By doing this each furrow would be straight and parallel with the rest. This happened because he’d lined up a target in the distance and that caused him to chart a straight course to it.
Today’s verse reminds us that we’re to do this exact same thing in our lives. God desires us to look straight ahead. He tells us to fix our eyes on the future that He has for us. He does not want us looking back at errors, mistakes & misadventures. These only cause us to meander & wonder aimlessly in life ultimately achieving nothing.
God gives us an awesome promise when we look straight ahead & fix our eyes there. He says we’ll be on His path. His path is both straight & safe. His path directs us to our future it does not return us to our past. His path is filled with faith, hope, love & wisdom. His path is easy to move along.
This week let’s stop wasting time with our past. God wants us to set our focus on what lies BEFORE us in Him. God’s greatest opportunities are ahead of us so let’s keep looking forward. Let’s fix our eyes on His future. Let’s move straight towards all He has. Before long we’ll be into the promises & future of God and life will seem so much better.
