You Unlimited…

I am the Lord, the God of all people. Nothing is too difficult for me
Jeremiah 32:27

If there were no speed limits on a highway how fast would we drive? Some would drive fast enough to get to their destination on time whilst others might speed up to arrive early. Some would leave late making up lost time on the way. Others might drive slowly taking in the scenery arriving whenever they get there. Even if there weren’t a set limit each individual would limit themselves.

Today’s verse lets us know that there are no limits in God. Limits are simply anything that restricts & confines. For example, a speed-limited vehicle is restricted to a much lower speed than what it was built for. If we take the limits off it’ll move faster, go further & achieve more. In the same way when our limits are taken off, we can move faster, go further and achieve so much more than before. When our limits are removed, we can maximize our full potential.

God has no limits to what He can do but we often limit Him. Whenever we limit Him, we limit ourselves. We restrict our future and end up with a life not quite as full as we had hoped. When we remove our limits, we release God to lead us to our full potential, achieving everything He purposed & planned for our lives [Jeremiah 29:11]

This week let’s take the limits off of God [Psalm 78:41]. Let’s release Him from the box we’ve restricted Him to. Let’s start to dream again, believe again and regain our faith in Him. Start to actually believe that “Nothing is too difficult for him” and that “Nothing is impossible for Him” [Matthew 19:26, Luke 1:37]. As we form our lives around His Word our limits are removed and our future is empowered to reach its full potential.

Your Story…

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith
Hebrews 12:2

There’s a certain joy and expectation we get as we read a book. It matters little if it’s fictional or factual, a novel or a biography. If it has a great story line it captures our interest and drags us in. The story unfolds page-by-page as the plot grows chapter-by-chapter. We feel every mountain & valley that the author describes as we’re led towards the conclusion of the story.

In today’s verse Paul tells us that our life is like a book and has an author. The author of our life is Jesus. He’s writing our life page-by-page and chapter-by-chapter. He is continually taking us forward on our journey to the future. Our life has no blank pages. When we make Jesus the author of our life every page is filled and every page is complete. Whether we’re in the valley or on the mountain we have the victory.

We may not know exactly what’s going to happen on the next page of our life but Jesus does. He’s already penned that page and it includes His plan to prosper us with a future & hope [Jeremiah 29:11]. If we selfishly try to write our own story, rather than let Jesus, we end up having to endure through our own abilities. But with Jesus as our author we become equipped & empowered for an amazing future.

This week let’s stop writing our own story and enter a new chapter instead. Let’s allow Jesus to take over the future manuscript of our life. Let’s release every anxiety that’s built up in us to Him [1 Peter 5:7]. Then, with Jesus as the authors & finisher of our story, we’ll be recipients of a great future. It will become a future that’s filled with His hope, His love & His prosperity.

The Year Ahead….

Forget what happened in the past, and do not ponder on old events
Isaiah 43:18

For some this year has been amongst their best ever. For others this year ranks as one of their worst. This year contained many incidents & events that have forged many memories. When we think about this year these memories flood our thoughts and ignite our emotions. Some people would love another year exactly the same whilst others would prefer a year filled with the complete opposite. The good news is that a new year is upon us and how we enter it will determine the direction we’ll take.

Today’s verse lets us know God’s way for believers to head into His future plan and purpose. He lets us know we need to do 2 very important things. We need to forget what’s happened in our past [Both good & bad]and we need to Stop thinking about old events [Both good & bad]. In other words, we’re to put everything from our past into the past. We’re to stop continually resurrecting them and attempting to breathe life into them.

The next verse in Isaiah instructs us to look to God because He is about to do something new! The truth is if all we ever do is remember our past & think about old events then it’s impossible for us to look forward to our future. Our future contains all the new things God has for us. He wants to fulfill every single one of His promises [2 Corinthians 1:20] and overflow our lives with His plan, future & Hope [Jeremiah 29:11].

This week let’s release ourselves from our past before the New Year arrives. Let’s forget about what’s happened to us & let’s stop thinking about old unchangeable events. Instead let’s put our focus on God and His Word. Let’s enter this New Year equipped to conquer every mountain & obstacle before us. Not only will we become conquerors, we’ll also have God’s joy, hope and purpose throughout the coming year.

A Name Change…

No longer shall your name be called Abram, But your name shall be Abraham; For I have made you…
Genesis 17:5

Our name is what we’re known & recognized by. Growing up we hear, “That’s just like Sally” or “There goes Johnny the mechanic”. Our name becomes a reflection of what we’ve done & who we were. People will greet us, refer to us and get our attention simply by using our name. Even when we alter what we do our name remains.

In today’s verse we see God changing a name, Abram to Abraham. No longer was Abraham to be referred to in the old way. We’re told that God had made him into something new. His new name reflects God’s promises & his future rather than Abram’s dysfunction & past.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says when we’re born-again old things pass away and all things become new” All things include our name. The old meaning of our name is dead and a new meaning has begun. No longer does our name reflect our past failures & defeats. No longer does it label us with what we did or did not do. Our name now reflects & labels us with the promises God has made us. He’s made us victorious [Romans 8:37], He’s given us future and hope [Jeremiah 29:11] and we are blessed [Ephesians 1:3].

This week lets release the old meaning of our name and pick up the new. Let’s walk with our head held high as the child of God we are. Let’s be known & recognized by the promises God has spoken over us. Our name may sound the same but what it reflects is what God has made us rather than what our past has branded us.

What You Really Want…

Abraham believed in the God who gives life to the dead and calls into existence those things that do not exist
Romans 4:17

Most people want what they see. If they’re watching a cooking show on TV, they want that food. If they see a sporty car in a glossy magazine, it’s the one they need. Large companies and movie studios make use of this weakness to advertise and sell products to many people. It works for them but it’s not how God’s Kingdom functions.

Today’s verse shows us clearly God’s way to move ahead in life. We’re told to believe, trust, commit & have faith in God. We’re to look at nothing else but God to form our future. He’ll cause life to enter where only death has been. He’ll cause darkness to flee as light enters in. He’ll ensure that every stench leaves our life and that the aroma of heaven remains.

We’re also told that God calls into existence things that do not already exist. He did it in creation [Genesis 1] and He’s still doing it today. He’s speaking over our lives so they’ll become exactly what they’re meant to be [Jeremiah 29:11]. Rather than looking at what’s wrong around us let’s speak out our God’s future and let His Word form life’s road ahead.

This week let’s begin to re-fashion our future God’s way rather than the worlds. Let’s take our eyes off what we see and start speaking God’s Word to what needs to change. Before long we’ll notice life begin to adjust with new things existing where they never existed before. Simply believe, trust and speak God’s Word and  be ready to grab a hold of the greatest future.

A Better Life…

“You can make many PLANS, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.”
Proverbs 19:21

Long before a house is built there are PLANS drawn. As the building progresses we usually make many changes. When it’s complete we have a house that looks exactly the way we want. In a similar way we make our own PLANS for the future. As our lives progress God intervenes and makes adjustments to our PLANS. That way our lives end up looking exactly how He wants.

Today’s verse lets us know how it works. When we make PLANS that are selfish or that are not right in God’s eyes… He intervenes. He may do this by using His word, other people or by speaking directly into our spirit. It doesn’t matter how He intervenes. What matters is our response. We must make corrections because God’s purpose will prevail.

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that the plans God has for us will prosper us. They will give us hope & a future. Now that’s the sort of plans that make us want to start building. To do this we need to lay aside our personal & selfish plans and step into God’s amazing plan for our future.

This week, let’s stay close to the Holy Spirit. Let’s listen for heavens PLANS for our life. If His PLANS don’t match ours then let’s adjust our PLANS. Remember, God’s purposes will always win so why not join yourself to His success. Why not become a part of God’s purpose for your life here on earth starting today!

Cheer Up…

“Anxiety weighs a person down but an
ENCOURAGING WORD cheers a person up.”
Proverbs 12:25

Has anyone ever spoken a few words to you that have simply made your day? A few words that have lifted, encouraged & strengthened you when everything else looked bleak. We can make a huge difference in someone else’s life simply by speaking a few well-chosen & uplifting words. A few kind words can really make someone’s day.

Todays verse reminds us about the effect of speaking encouraging words. We understand that the words we speak are powerful. They are vessels carrying either life or death [Proverbs 18:21]. What we speak can influence someone for years to come. Destructive words will cut & wound deeply. Encouraging words will lift & help someone make it through their day, week & year.

Don’t underestimate the impact that our words have. Be on the lookout for people who need encouragement. Look for those who seem heavy, worried or anxious. Tell them what God’s Word says about them [Jeremiah 29:11]. Let them know things will change. Share the good news of the gospel for a great future. Lift their day with a few well-chosen & encouraging words.

This week let’s get passionate about encouraging others. Let’s become the encouragement that someone else needs. Let’s allow the impact of our words to be positive & uplifting. Let’s bring light into their darkness & hope into their hopelessness. It’s all done through the words we share with them. So let choose words that encourage, build & lead to a great future.

Waiting….

“The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
To those who seek Him.”
Lamentations 3:25

Oftentimes in life we spend endless hours of our days waiting. It may be patiently waiting on the phone for help. It may be lined up at the bank or supermarket. It can be when we’re stopped at every traffic light, just wanting to get home. We spend a lot of time waiting for others but then expect God to produce everything instantly.

Today’s verse gives us two powerful keys to receiving from God. Firstly we should passionately wait for Him and secondly we should diligently seek Him. The Lord says that as we wait & seek, He’ll produce good in our future. If we’re impatient, lacking focus & are short tempered we’ll ultimately miss out on the good that He’s planned ahead.

It’s impossible for us to make anyone answer a phone, speed up a line or change the traffic lights. Similarly, our impatience doesn’t change God’s timings. We mustn’t selfishly run ahead of what He’s doing thinking its OK, it’s not. We must learn to wait, stay expectant & be full of hope for the future that He’s planned for us. [Jeremiah 29:11]

This week let’s relax into God’s Will for our future. Let’s not get impatient. Lets not become frustrated & short tempered. Lets passionately wait for Him instead. Lets diligently seek Him & His future for our life. We must be careful not to allow the pressure of urgency to steal our focus. We should stop; take a few deep breaths and wait, seeking Him. Circumstances will begin to turn as we see His goodness poured out on our lives.

Take the Limits off…

“I am the Lord, the God of all people. Nothing is too difficult for me”
Jeremiah 32:27

If there were no speed limits on a highway how fast would we drive? Some would drive fast enough to get to their destination on time whilst others might speed up to arrive early.
