The Winners Way…

Stand firm, and you will win life
Luke 21:19

The tallest tree in a forest is usually the tree that has remained standing the longest. It has stood against every adversity, grown through every season and sent its roots deep down into the soil. Now it stands high above all the rest providing shelter from the storms, shade from the heat and hope to all.

Today’s verse tells us that we’re able to be just like this tree. We can become a place of shelter, relief and nourishment to everybody around us. It doesn’t take a theology degree, a leadership role or even a meaningful sermon. It takes just one thing: Standing Firm!

Here are 3 simple but vital, things that will always help us to stand firm…

Don’t yield to the attack – Romans 6:13
Always get back up – Proverbs 24:16
Don’t look back – Philippians 3:13

As we do these 3 things, we stand firmer than ever before becoming essential shelter, relief & nourishment to many other people. We’ll start providing what others need to help, strengthen & encourage them through life.

This week lets be proactive in standing firm. If there’s an attack, take God’s side. If you get knocked down, stand up again. As you run your race don’t look back, just keep moving forward with your eyes on the goal. Before long you’ll be standing tall, standing firm and standing for God. Not only that you’ll also be setup to win life!!!

Hidden Habits…

“But this one thing I do”
Philippians 3:13

Most people have a habit. Many habits are unseen. Some habits prove annoying whilst others are helpful. Habits are often birthed from either frustration or the need to efficiently achieve a goal. Not every habit is destructive; some can actually propel us into a brilliant future.

Today’s verse has Paul telling us about a hidden habit that kept him constantly moving forward in life. He says that he simply forgets everything that has happened in his past and then he reaches to stretch forward to his future. The key to doing this is to be aware of, and accept, our present as the stepping-stone to our future.

Today contains everything we need to build a fabulous future. Once we discover that God truly will supply all our present & future needs, we are able to understand the necessity of releasing our past. A blessed future is simply built by releasing our past, accepting our present and using it to construct a blessed tomorrow.

This week let’s start a new habit just like the apostle Paul. Firstly, let’s release our past – no matter how good or how bad it was. Then let’s accept where we are right now so we can use this as a seed to build an amazing future. Then we can reach forward to our future. This may be a bit of a stretch and a little uncomfortable but as we do as Paul did, we’ll receive a brilliant & blessed future that we can truly be excited about.

Drop Your Bags …

“…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”
Philippians 3:13

Whenever we fly it’s always a great feeling to drop the heavy bags off at the check-in. Once that’s done we’re free to move around and focus on what we want to do next. We really don’t give our luggage a second thought – we have left it where it belongs.

In today’s verse Paul tells us exactly how he navigates life. He drops off all the baggage of his past and then forgets about it. Paul does one thing… he focuses on his future. The reality is that you and I cannot change our past but we can build a great future in Jesus.

In reality, it’s almost impossible to advance trying to carry all the heavy baggage from our past. Bags of hurt, shame, error & abuse are too heavy for us to move. We must give them to Jesus and make Him the “baggage counter” of our life. As we leave our luggage with Him, and forget about it, we can move easily into our future.

This week why not go to Jesus and check-in all the heavy bags of your past. Then forget about them, they are where they belong. You will be free to look forward to a fantastic future. Set your focus on it and before long you’ll be experiencing a new freedom in Jesus like never before!

Stand Firm…

  1. Don’t yield to the attack – Romans 6:13
  2. Always get back up – Proverbs 24:16
  3. Don’t look back – Philippians 3:13

As we do these 3 fundamental things we stand firmer than ever before. As we continue in them we become essential shelter, relief & nourishment to many other people. We start providing what others need to help, strengthen and encourage them through life.

This week lets be proactive in standing firm. If there’s an attack, take God’s side. If you get knocked down, stand up again. Let It Go…

“Forget what happened in the past, and do not dwell on events from long ago.” Isaiah 43:18

It’s great to be in a new year. A new year can be a time of new beginnings just as much as it can be a time of pulling the past into our present and future. Some people make resolutions and then break them whilst others set new goals and directions, pour their energy into them & head towards success.

In todays verse the prophet Isaiah gives us a great key for moving ahead towards success. He says we should forget what’s happened previously & refuse to dwell on past events. The Apostle Paul said a similar thing when he wrote in Philippians 3:13 “I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”.

The enemy repeatedly uses our past failures and mistakes to sabotage our future. If he can get us to focus on failure then we’ll fail. Now stop & think for a moment what would happen if we stopped focusing on our failures: the enemy would have fewer tools to attack us with. Therefore we’d be equipped to succeed more easily.

This week remind yourself that everybody’s done wrong, everybody’s been hurt and everyone has hurt & wronged others. Then LET IT GO! We don’t have to fix everything, we simply need to forget the past and stop dwelling on it. The rest is up to God and He said in Romans 12:19 “Vengeance is mine; I will repay”. As we do our part by forgiving & forgetting then He can undertake His part.
