Doing it all…

Philippians 4:13 “For I can do ALL THINGS through Christ, who gives me strength”

Some days we think we’ve conquered the world only to discover that there’s still a long “to do” list left. It has taken every ounce of strength to get this far so the rest will have to wait for another time. Everyone experiences days like these.

Today’s verse reminds us how to achieve victory every day. You and I can do somethings & many things in our own strength but we can’t do ALL THINGS. If we want to achieve our full potential we need help. We must obtain it through Christ. He gives us the strength and ability to do ALL THINGS, even the seemingly impossible!

So, how do we access Christ’s strength to do ALL THINGS just like the Apostle Paul? It’s simple, we ensure that Jesus is the central focus of our life. We place Him above and before everything else. We honour Him first in every arena of life – private, public and personal. Jesus gets the best of our time, our resource and our relationships. We vigilantly keep every arena of our lives focused on Jesus.

As we do this the gates of blessing from heaven open and Christ’s strength floods our life. So, this week, re-arrange your life to honour Jesus even more. It takes many simple decisions throughout the day to achieve this and then the promise of Philippians 4:13 will overtake your life and joy will become your constant companion.

Wanted Dead or Alive…

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit”

People like watching a good cowboy movie especially on a wet afternoon. As the good guys pursue the bad guys we often see a sign with the villains picture that says “Wanted Dead or Alive.” The good guys keep chasing him down until they have their man.

Our verse tells us exactly who the villain in our life is; it’s our tongue, or more practically, the words that we speak. Each time we open our mouth we have the choice to speak words that bring life or ones that produce death. If we speak words of life then we eat the fruit of a great life.

This week let’s be like the good guys in the movie and pursue our words. Let’s take time to listen to ourselves and catch any words of death. Don’t concern yourself with what others say just focus on yourself and your words. Other people will eat the fruit that comes from their own words.

When you hear yourself not speaking life then pause for a moment, think and then speak out fresh words of life. You will train yourself into an abundant life in no time. Areas that you have struggled in will start to change. Good stuff will begin to grow and flourish in your life as you tend them correctly with your words.

Your Bag Drop…

Philippians 3:13 “…but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”

Whenever we fly it’s always a great feeling to drop the heavy bags off at the check-in. Once this is done we are free to move around and focus on what we want to do next. We really don’t give our luggage a second thought – we have left it where it belongs.

In this verse Paul tells us exactly how he navigates life. He drops off all the baggage of his past and then forgets about it. Paul does one thing… he focuses on his future. The reality is that you and I cannot change our past but we can build a great future in Jesus.

In reality, it’s almost impossible to advance trying to carry all the heavy bags from our past. Bags of hurt, shame, error and abuse are too heavy for us to move. We must give them to Jesus and make Him the “baggage counter” of our life. As we leave our luggage with Him, and forget about it, we can move easily into our future.

This week why not go to Jesus and check-in all the heavy bags of your past. Then forget about them, they are where they belong. You will be free to look forward to a fantastic future. Set your focus on it and before long you’ll be experiencing a new freedom in Jesus like never before!

Help Me Please…

Hebrews 2:16 “We also know that the Son did not come to HELP angels; he came to HELP the descendants of Abraham.” [NLT]

Have you ever needed HELP? I need it a lot.  A day seldom passes where I haven’t required HELP in some way.  Its just part of life… we all need HELP time and again. So where do we go to get our HELP? The answer is simple: Jesus!

Jesus is our HELP and Jesus came to HELP us!

That’s absolutely right, Jesus came to HELP you too! Both you and I are the descendants of Abraham through Jesus. We are the people that Jesus came to HELP. We are told that He didn’t come to HELP angels, he could have, but he didn’t. Angels like Michael and Gabriel get HELP from elsewhere but we, get HELP, directly from Jesus.

Jesus came to HELP you!

Here are three simple keys to getting HELP from Jesus:

  1. The Name of Jesus [Phil 2:10]
  2. The Blood of Jesus [REV 12:11]
  3. The Word of God [EPH 6:17]

This week focus on getting your HELP from Jesus. Go to him every day, every hour or every minute… He’s here for you. You will never exhaust the supply of HELP that He has just for you!

Don’t Miss Your Reward…

Philippians 3:15-16 “So let’s keep FOCUSED on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—YOU’LL SEE IT yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.” [MSG]

Today, more than ever, if we want to live in everything God has for us… we need to stay FOCUSED on the goal. The goal is the target of our high call, our purpose in Jesus Christ. This goal includes everything God has planned for us. When we are totally committed to focusing on the goal… we will SEE IT. If life seems a little blurry or misted over, when we choose to focus on heavens goal, this verse let’s us know that clarity will come. YOU WILL SEE IT!!!

Guard your mind closely and don’t let misled people build doubt in your house.
Don’t let those who have blurred vision, distract you from your goal… especially those who are on the wrong track. Instead be FOCUSED and pursue the vision God has put in your heart.

So don’t forget this week, set your focus on God’s goal for your life, stay FOCUSED and once you’re on the right track don’t change it for any reason… you will move towards your reward and receive everything God has planned for you!
