I Can, I Will…

I can do all things through Christ
Philippians 4:13

In this technologically driven age of IPhones, IPods & IPads we’ve quickly become reliant on what these items are able to do for us. People seldom wear a watch, carry a diary or even open a book any more. Everything they need is provided by their technology. The difficulty is we’ve developed a society where people want everything done for them, rather than actually doing it themselves.

Today’s verse reminds us that we can, and should, be doing some things for ourselves. We shouldn’t be leaving everything to other people and our technology. The Bible says we’re individually equipped & capable of achieving some fairly major things. We’re able to achieve them with little help from others. But many believers ignore what they’re capable of producing. The truth is that when we work God’s Word in our lives, God’s Word works in our lives.

Here are a few simple things that we’re able to do individually. They require little help from technology or other people:

Ephesians 6:19 I CAN pray
Matthew 6:14-15 I CAN forgive
Matthew 2:8 I CAN worship God
Philippians 1:25 I CAN help others
1 Corinthians 13:2 I CAN move mountains
1 Corinthians 9:21 I CAN lead people to Christ
Psalm 139:7 I CAN never escape God’s presence!
Philippians 1:22 I CAN do more fruitful work for Christ
Mark 5:28, Matthew 9:21, 1 Peter 2:24 I CAN be healed.
Romans 1:11 I CAN use my spiritual gift to help others grow
2 Corinthians 8:3, Acts 26:22 I CAN tell people what God is doing in my life

This week lets decide, “I CAN & I WILL do more than I have been doing”. Let’s put away the distraction of technology and go “old school” in our pursuit of God. Let’s get up close & personal with Him rather than boxing God into our schedules & plans. Use the list above as a spontaneous bucket list for what you’d like to accomplish in God this week. Personally press your life into God’s Word & His Promises and you’ll quickly discover His Word & Promises overtaking your life.

I Am I Can…

Whatever I have, Wherever I AM I CAN make it through ANYTHING in the One who makes me who I am
Philippians 4:13

Have you ever been stranded in a remote place with little money and no one to help you? It’s a lonely & anxious experience and we often say in frustration “I just can’t do this!” But it’s amazing what clever ideas & ingenuous plans we come up with to escape to a place of safety and security.

Today’s verse delivers a powerful truth about our future safety & security. We’re told that it doesn’t matter what we have, it doesn’t matter where we are, we can make it through ANYTHING! That’s right you can make it through ANYTHING!

All we need to do is pick our destination and then allow Jesus [the One who makes me who I am] to take us on the journey. As we continually do things His way the loneliness, anxiety & despair will depart as our new destination nears.

This week let’s depart from any form of loneliness, anxiety & despair. Keep reminding yourself every single day “I AM & I CAN”. If your life seems frustrating and progress seems difficult keep saying “I AM & I CAN”. Reading your Bible will equip, strengthen & help you to know who you are, what you can do and how you can reach a better destination in your future.

A Better Choice…

I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me
Philippians 4:13

Have you ever made a recipe and inadvertently omitted a vital ingredient? The result can be something horrible rather than something wonderful. It may have looked bad, smelt bad or tasted disgusting. It was simply because a vital ingredient was missed out. An ingredient that was necessary for a successful outcome.

Today’s verse lets us know a vital ingredient for a successful life. We’re instructed to do ALL THINGS through Christ. When we do this Christ strengthens us. Many believers today live weak lives because they only ever do some things, rather than ALL THINGS, through Him.

When life seems unsuccessful & weak rather than giving up let’s change. If we just keep doing what we’ve always done nothing alters. Change is the key. Get into God’s Word, the Bible, and discover His way of doing every part of your life. Then do what the Bible says. This is how we do ALL THINGS through Christ and that’s how He is able to strengthen us and cause us to be successful.

So, this week let’s remember that doing nothing is giving up. Don’t give up. Get into God’s Word and start bringing a different area each day under His Word. Live His way rather than yours and Christ will bring His strength into your life. Before long discouragement will leave as His strength replaces it. God’s Word always leads us to a successful and prosperous future.

Doing It All…

“For I can do ALL THINGS through Christ, who gives me strength”
Philippians 4:13

Some days we think we’ve conquered the world only to discover that there’s still a long “to do” list left. It has taken every ounce of strength to get this far so the rest will have to wait for another time. Everyone experiences days like these.

Today’s verse reminds us how to achieve daily victory. We can do somethings & many things in our own strength but we can’t do ALL THINGS. If we want to achieve our full potential, we need help. We must obtain help through Christ. He gives us the strength & ability to do ALL THINGS, even the seemingly impossible!

So, how do we access Christ’s strength to do ALL THINGS? We start by ensuring Jesus is the central focus of our life. We place Him above & before everything else. We honour Him 1st in every arena of life – private, public and personal. Jesus gets the best of our time, our resource and our relationships. We vigilantly keep every arena of our lives focused on Jesus.

This week let’s open the gates of blessing and let Christ’s strength flood our lives. Let’s start by rearranging our life to honour Jesus even more. It’ll take many simple decisions throughout the day to achieve this. As we do the promise of Philippians 4:13 will overtake us & joy will become our constant companion.
