Doing it all…

Philippians 4:13 “For I can do ALL THINGS through Christ, who gives me strength”

Some days we think we’ve conquered the world only to discover that there’s still a long “to do” list left. It has taken every ounce of strength to get this far so the rest will have to wait for another time. Everyone experiences days like these.

Today’s verse reminds us how to achieve victory every day. You and I can do somethings & many things in our own strength but we can’t do ALL THINGS. If we want to achieve our full potential we need help. We must obtain it through Christ. He gives us the strength and ability to do ALL THINGS, even the seemingly impossible!

So, how do we access Christ’s strength to do ALL THINGS just like the Apostle Paul? It’s simple, we ensure that Jesus is the central focus of our life. We place Him above and before everything else. We honour Him first in every arena of life – private, public and personal. Jesus gets the best of our time, our resource and our relationships. We vigilantly keep every arena of our lives focused on Jesus.

As we do this the gates of blessing from heaven open and Christ’s strength floods our life. So, this week, re-arrange your life to honour Jesus even more. It takes many simple decisions throughout the day to achieve this and then the promise of Philippians 4:13 will overtake your life and joy will become your constant companion.

A New Start…

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God…”

Happy New to you and your family!

Our year has ended and we have just begun 2012 together. Most people happily move forward putting the old year behind. Others find it a little more difficult. God wants us to keep a forward focus and continually let go of the past just like the Apostle Paul did.

You see the key to freedom is not letting your yesterday affect your today! God’s mercy is new every morning. So, no matter what happened last year in 2012, we can find a fresh place to begin.

Here is how it works: The first words of the Bible say, “In the beginning God…” When we give God priority and ownership in the beginning we can be assured He will cause us to reach our full potential – no matter how many twists and turns we face on our journey.

Begin 2012 with God as your priority and keep Him there because Jesus has already gone into 2012 to prepare the way for you! God wants to bring to pass His promises for our lives over the coming year.

So let’s begin with Jesus, stay with Jesus and end with Jesus. He is faithful to keep His word!

Thank You So Much…

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Whatever happens, give thanks, because it is God’s will in Christ Jesus that you do this.” (GW)

Our yearly celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ has just passed. It has been a time of giving and receiving gifts as a way of honouring the greatest gift of all in Jesus. For most of us Christmas has been a time of joy, of gathering together and making memories.  For some it may have been a difficult time.

Notice our verse does not say God is responsible for all that happens in our world it simply instructs us to give thanks no matter what happens!  This is God’s way.

To give thanks means to “readily express gratitude, show appreciation and return kindness.” We must always be ready and willing to give thanks. Sometimes we easily direct our thanks to Jesus but God wants us to learn to also thank those who have been personally kind and generous to us. Whether others generosity has been small or great we are to do as God commands and give thanks to them as well.

Activate God’s word today and complete your Christmas celebration by giving thanks. Post a card, make a quick phone call, send email or text a great big THANK YOU to all the people who have reached out in kindness to you this year. It is God’s will in Christ Jesus that you give thanks today!

Today is the Day…

Luke 2:11 “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (NKJV)

This day actually occurred! Our Saviour was born and He is Christ the Lord. There is no need to doubt or to look for another Saviour because Jesus has already arrived. What a world-changing event our verse proclaims.

Jesus was born especially for you. He eternally changed your direction and restored joy, hope and peace to your life. Our restoration in Jesus was so complete it cannot be lost unless we decide to reject it. But who wouldn’t want joy, hope and peace in their life!

Jesus came to give you, your family and your friends joy, hope and peace. So why not tell them about this Good News when you see them at Christmas? Tell them about Jesus and give the Holy Spirit some seed to work with.  Jesus wants to transform their lives too.

It will be a change that they will be eternally grateful for!

Turbocharge Your Prayer

Jude 1:20 “But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the holy Spirit.” [MSG]

Every single one of us is on an earth journey that will involve times of spiritual attacks from the enemy. God wants us to overcome and not buckle under during these attacks.

When we receive Jesus He gives us the full armour of God but this is only the beginning. Our training is always ongoing. God wants us to become elite athletes in the realm of the spirit.

This is where our verse fits in.  God says we are to carefully build ourselves up by praying in the Holy Spirit.  Praying in the Holy Spirit means praying in our heavenly language – speaking in tongues. It’s a gift for all believers in Jesus Christ!

As we pray in our heavenly language we make our spirit strong.  This helps us to hear the voice of God more clearly and release a divine flow of strength from heaven to help us.

When we pray in our heavenly language we are praying the mind of the Holy Spirit over our situation and God’s answer comes forth.  We have done this many times in our lives and God’s Spirit has never failed.

Build your spirit strong… Pray in the Holy Spirit today!

Late at Night…

1 John 1:5 “This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is LIGHT, pure LIGHT; there’s not a trace of darkness in him.” [MSG]

In the middle of the night it is amazing how fast the darkness disappears when we switch on the LIGHT. Darkness goes instantly! In the same way, when God is in a place, the devil cannot be there. LIGHT will always expel darkness. God is forever greater than everything else.

Three things we should always remember:

  1. God is LIGHT
  2. God is pure
  3. God has no darkness

Our redeemed lives are to be full of God’s LIGHT and purity. As we allow Him into every area of our lives… no darkness, through thought, word or deed, can exist there.  Why? Because the LIGHT of God expels them! If any darkness tries to re-enter it will be forced out by God’s presence.

Start today and let God’s LIGHT shine through every part of your life. There is no place too dark that He cannot shine brightly. Everywhere LIGHT exists, darkness cannot. So lets live in the LIGHT, abide in the LIGHT and share the LIGHT!

Say Good Riddance To Loneliness…

1 Corinthians 12:14 “For the BODY is not one member, but many.” [KJV]

The treasure held in this scripture is that we are never alone on our journey. We are not meant to go through things alone, neither should we ever accomplish anything just for ourselves. Rather, everything that is accomplished is done for the benefit of the whole body, the Church. Sure some go first and others follow, but we all move forward together as a team, the BODY of Christ, Jesus hands and feet on earth.

It is a truly miraculous coming together of individual people, unique and dynamic that form this BODY, the magnificent church of Jesus Christ.

You are never alone… you belong to the family of God. You are moving forward as part of the BODY of Christ – the church. Christ’s body is supplying you as you grow this week. If you are feeling lonely or isolated then get into God’s house and connect with the other member of Christ’s BODY. You’ll surprise yourself at the difference it makes.

Get ready for a great week!!!

No Risk Offer…

1 Corinthians 3:11 “For no one can lay any FOUNDATION other than the one already laid, which is JESUS Christ.” [NIV]

Every building has FOUNDATIONS designed to carry specific loads. There is only one sure FOUNDATION that can carry the load of you and your family… Jesus is this FOUNDATION. He can support everything… you, your calling and your destiny.

He will take the maximum load that you can put on Him at any time. No matter what burden, no matter what sorrow, no matter what fear… He can carry it for you.

The truth is there is only one FOUNDATION suitable for us to build upon. It is a FOUNDATION that will not crack and will never crumble. This FOUNDATION is JESUS Christ. JESUS is a FOUNDATION that we don’t have to wait to be laid; it is completely ready to build upon right now. Don’t ever build on other FOUNDATIONS like people, jobs or financial security because they will not hold us securely and faithfully… only Jesus can do this for us.

No risk now, no risk later… JESUS is more than able to carry the load and burdens of your life. Take any weights from your life and lay them upon the FOUNDATION that is JESUS Christ. He will carry them for you – it’s what JESUS does!!!

God’s Army…

2 Timothy 2:4 “Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.” [NLT]

The bible has many rich lessons on how to successfully serve Jesus with our lives. This verse tells us that a soldier does not get tied up or intertwined with the things of day-to-day life. So much happens everyday that it is easy for us to give control over to these circumstances and allow the vines of life to choke the very breath out of us. This is not what Jesus wants from His soldiers.

A nations army takes great care of its soldiers. They take care of the daily needs of their troops so their soldiers can focus on what is needed from them to apprehend victory in the battle. If a soldier did get tied up in the day-to-day affairs and cares of life then he would not be able to please the one who enlisted him and victory would be almost impossible. How much more does God take care of His soldiers? You and I are His soldiers; He is taking care of our daily needs and cares so we can please Christ Jesus who enlisted us.

There are so many daily cares that can try to hold us and tie us down. All these things have little eternal value. When we are chosen as one of Christ’s soldiers we must lay aside all these weights so we can effectively war with Christ on this journey. Eternity is always our target, the temporal is preparation and the journey is a constant process of moving forward. Keep moving forward!

Take the Limits Off…

Philippians 3:8 “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the INFINITE VALUE of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ” [NLT]

It doesn’t matter what we attempt, what we achieve or what we fail in. All these efforts become nothing when compared to the INFINITE VALUE of knowing Christ Jesus as Lord. He is the anointed one and He carries the anointing. This anointing breaks every oppression that would try to hold us. So wherever Jesus is made Lord, nothing else can rise up and seize His position of authority – absolutely nothing!!

We love these beautiful words written by Helen Lemmel “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace” In our lives we continually need to reset our focus towards Christ. We must make adjustment and insure our gaze is on Jesus and not on the things of the world. When we do this our life is consumed by His glory & His grace.

So, what has your eye today? Is it more important than Christ? Are you looking at circumstances, needs or situations? Is it your bank balance, unemployment or a health problem? No matter what it is… make Jesus your focus from this day on.

Nothing good can ever be lost when we have Jesus. Everything becomes rubbish in comparison. The Knowledge of Christ’s is of INFINITE VALUE to you & me.
CHRIST IS KING!!!
