Doing it all…

Philippians 4:13 “For I can do ALL THINGS through Christ, who gives me strength”

Some days we think we’ve conquered the world only to discover that there’s still a long “to do” list left. It has taken every ounce of strength to get this far so the rest will have to wait for another time. Everyone experiences days like these.

Today’s verse reminds us how to achieve victory every day. You and I can do somethings & many things in our own strength but we can’t do ALL THINGS. If we want to achieve our full potential we need help. We must obtain it through Christ. He gives us the strength and ability to do ALL THINGS, even the seemingly impossible!

So, how do we access Christ’s strength to do ALL THINGS just like the Apostle Paul? It’s simple, we ensure that Jesus is the central focus of our life. We place Him above and before everything else. We honour Him first in every arena of life – private, public and personal. Jesus gets the best of our time, our resource and our relationships. We vigilantly keep every arena of our lives focused on Jesus.

As we do this the gates of blessing from heaven open and Christ’s strength floods our life. So, this week, re-arrange your life to honour Jesus even more. It takes many simple decisions throughout the day to achieve this and then the promise of Philippians 4:13 will overtake your life and joy will become your constant companion.

Help Wanted…

1 Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.”

Have you ever seen a sign in a window that says “Help Wanted” In reality this sign is offering more than just employment. It is signaling that someone has discovered that they can’t accomplish all they want by themselves.

You and I can be in a similar position when we look at life and think, “I don’t have the strength to accomplish all of this.” These are the times when we need to put out our “Help wanted” sign to God.

Our verse lets us know that He will respond. He will allow us to draw our strength from Him. Now there’s an amazing key hidden in this verse that will have you feeling strong more often than you feel weak. The key is to seek God’s face continually.

Now a face always looks forward. God’s face is the same. We find His face as we look towards our future. We will never find His face in our past. As we look for God in our future we are ensured that He will be our strength.

This week let God know that you need His help. Stop looking for Him in your past and resolutely seek Him in your future. As we do this strength will flow from heaven enabling us to flourish into the future. It’s not difficult; you just have to look in the right direction – to God in your future!

We love you and believe in you.

You’ve Got It…

Revelation 19:16 “On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.”

One of the things that interest me about cities is that they are always growing. No sooner has one city built the highest building then another city is building an even taller one. They just keep growing and whatever stands the tallest catches our attention.

Life can be like these cities. Every day something rises up demanding our attention. As soon as we deal with it something else jumps up craving attention. It can seem never-ending.

This is where our verse helps every day. Jesus has the words “King of all Kings and Lord of all lords” written on Him. It perfectly describes who He is and where he should be ranked in our lives.

Jesus belongs at the very apex of life. He is to hold the place above every king, above every lord and above every situation that life might try to throw at us. When Jesus is prioritized in the highest place everything in life is subdued.

So, this week, let’s shuffle our priorities around. Before life’s problems have a chance to overwhelm us let’s place Jesus at the top of our schedule rather than the bottom. Instead of trying to “fit” Him into our day let’s make Jesus the reason for our day. This simple adjustment will cause every high and haughty thing in our lives to become low. It will cause victory in our life everyday!

Your Time to Flourish…

1 Corinthians 3:6 “I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.”

Have you ever been in a circumstance where you think to yourself a third hand would be really helpful right now? It doesn’t matter what the situation, we all have times when we need help to successfully complete our assignment.

We must remember that we are each created to be dependent on other people. Every person, no matter how competent, needs help. We are each limited physically, intellectually and spiritually. That is why God created us to work with others. It is the very reason that He surrounded us with family, friends, colleagues and spiritual leaders.

As we all work together, each doing our part, an amazing thing happens. God makes that seed grow. That’s right, He is then able to make our tasks flourish, grow and produce fruit! I’m ready for that, how about you?

This week let’s set our sights on flourishing in God by finding the right people to team up with and take on life’s big challenges. This will activate the principle of growth over our lives. Once our part is done then God is able to complete His part. We will soon discover ourselves surrounded by growth. We will experience the sweet fruit of success. God will cause our lives to flourish like never before.

A Promise Given…

Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 “When you make a vow to God, don’t delay fulfilling it, because He does not delight in fools. Fulfill what you vow.”

Now, I’m sure you want God to delight in you… we sure do! Our verse tells us a simple way to make this happen. Whenever we make a promise to God we must fulfill it without delay. We must accomplish our part of the vow quickly.

Nowadays people are amazed when you do what you say? In our hectic society it is easy to make promises and never fulfill them. Our words are easily spoken but the route taken to fulfill them is sometimes difficult. Even in the Christian world people find it difficult to do what they promise. It can be a real challenge.

I know there are many things we promise God. We often promise to pray more, to financially help others, to serve and to help or even to plead ways of getting out of the tight spots in life. Remember, God knows every promise that we have made with him. The fact is not what we vowed but it is that we fulfill our part quickly.

This week, allow the Holy Spirit to remind you of the promises you made to God. He will give you a strategy, bathed in mercy and grace, to fulfill them quickly. Then the delight of the Lord will fall upon you. You will be able to walk in fresh favor before both God and man. So why not make this a week to remember!

Bon Voyage…

Matthew 11:28-29 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.” [MSG]

Do you feel you need a holiday right now? Have you felt like you will fall apart if you don’t get some rest but its just not possible? We have all been there! At these times of life it is vital to remember that there is a promise from God that will help us through. Even in the most stressful times of life this promise is for us.

Here’s how it works: Come to and get away alone with Jesus. Our verse teachs us that as we do this we will actually recover true life and take a real rest.

I know this sounds too good to be true but the reality is… it actually works! Just find a private place and talk to Jesus. Then before you know it He will be there with you. Jesus will recover your life and give you a real rest in His presence!

Bon Voyage my friend!

Bon Voyage

Not You Too…

2 Corinthians 1:4 “He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.” [MSG]

Life gets pressured and before we know it we are overwhelmed… it’s a hard time. When we find ourselves in hard times it is always comforting to have someone by our side. They are not merely there to HELP, but also provide comfort.

Our verse today knits together God’s way of bringing hard times to an end and it’s a lot easier than we think! It is in these hard times that God comes beside us to HELP and to comfort us like no one else can. The Holy Spirit undertakes this role – He is our comforter and our very present HELP in time of need.

But that’s just part of the story… after we have experienced this amazing comfort and HELP from the Holy Spirit, God wants us to do something with it – Give it away! God says find another person in a hard time and HELP them the same way He HELPED us. We are not to sit around just wanting comfort. No! God’s plan for us is to HELP others!

This week, reach out to HELP and comfort someone in a hard time. Watch how quickly your difficulties end and how blessed others are through you.

Help Me Please…

Hebrews 2:16 “We also know that the Son did not come to HELP angels; he came to HELP the descendants of Abraham.” [NLT]

Have you ever needed HELP? I need it a lot.  A day seldom passes where I haven’t required HELP in some way.  Its just part of life… we all need HELP time and again. So where do we go to get our HELP? The answer is simple: Jesus!

Jesus is our HELP and Jesus came to HELP us!

That’s absolutely right, Jesus came to HELP you too! Both you and I are the descendants of Abraham through Jesus. We are the people that Jesus came to HELP. We are told that He didn’t come to HELP angels, he could have, but he didn’t. Angels like Michael and Gabriel get HELP from elsewhere but we, get HELP, directly from Jesus.

Jesus came to HELP you!

Here are three simple keys to getting HELP from Jesus:

  1. The Name of Jesus [Phil 2:10]
  2. The Blood of Jesus [REV 12:11]
  3. The Word of God [EPH 6:17]

This week focus on getting your HELP from Jesus. Go to him every day, every hour or every minute… He’s here for you. You will never exhaust the supply of HELP that He has just for you!

Build With Confidence…

Hebrews 3:4 ” For every house is built by someone, but He who BUILT all things is God.” [NKJV]

Built to last! Our family absolutely enjoys and is so thankful for the home that God has given to us. It was BUILT very well.

Think about it… A lot of what we look at each day like buildings, cars, furniture etc. men have BUILT. But lets take a closer look! God was involved long before any man BUILT anything. God created the raw materials and the ideas for everything we can see. No human can create; we can only BUILD from what God has already given. Only God can create and BUILD eternally and that’s a claim only He can make!

One thing is for sure… when we need the raw materials to construct our future we must find them in God first. God will show us what we need to BUILD for our future to last! Here are a few keys to help…

  • Need finances… we are to be generous – Luke 6:38
  • Need help… we are to help others – Ephesians 6:8
  • Need wisdom… we are to ask God for it – James 1:5
  • Don’t know what to do… do justly, love mercy and walk humbly – Micah 6:8

And we don’t stop there… we each need to BUILD God’s way for God has prepared all the raw materials so we can BUILD to last.

No matter what tomorrows need is… God has already prepared a supply!

STAY EXPECTANT!!!

A Startling Fact About Fear…

Isaiah 41:14 “Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I WILL HELP YOU,” says the LORD, and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” [NKJV]

When we fear… the bible calls us worms! This is because worms eat, devour and spoil all the good in things turning them rotten. Worms are a part of the decay process and make stuff unusable.

Now, fear works exactly the same way in a believer’s life, as worms do in the natural. Fear eats, devours and spoils the goodness of the faith walk that we are on.

This is why God says, “I WILL HELP YOU” and commands us to FEAR NOT! When we allow God to help us and choose not to fear, He will show Himself as our Lord, our Redeemer, and the Holy One in our lives. As we allow Him to take this position then we will no longer fear and are no longer viewed as worms.

God is always on the look out for us. He continually looks for ways to help each one of us, He says “I WILL HELP YOU!”

Don’t yield to the destructive fearful worm mentality that will destroy your faith!

Act now! Let the Lord fulfill His word to you, “I WILL HELP YOU.” He will keep you strong and bold as you move forward, a champion in Christ.
