Sounds Great…

Proverbs 10:11 “The mouth of a righteous person is a fountain of life”

Fountains are fascinating. People are drawn to their seemingly endless flow of water as it dances and spills around them. The many cascades create a peaceful atmosphere. Their calming sound attracts many who sit and relax on their edges.

Today’s verse says that our mouth, or more specifically the words we speak, can become a fountain of life. Stinking words produce a dead fountain that no one visits. Life giving words produce a beautiful fountain that everyone wants to be near.

Try picturing this in your imagination. See your life-giving words becoming a fountain of life as they dance and spill from your mouth. See their sound attracting people and creating a refreshingly peaceful atmosphere for others.

This week allow encouraging words to freely flow from your mouth. As you do this you’ll create a beautiful fountains of life that has an overflow of healthy waters. People will almost instantly be attracted by your words. When this happens allow more life-giving words to gush out and affect all those who come near. Before long lives will be changed, people refreshed and cascades of life will be flowing from you in every direction. It God’s Word so you know it will work!

Wanted Dead or Alive…

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit”

People like watching a good cowboy movie especially on a wet afternoon. As the good guys pursue the bad guys we often see a sign with the villains picture that says “Wanted Dead or Alive.” The good guys keep chasing him down until they have their man.

Our verse tells us exactly who the villain in our life is; it’s our tongue, or more practically, the words that we speak. Each time we open our mouth we have the choice to speak words that bring life or ones that produce death. If we speak words of life then we eat the fruit of a great life.

This week let’s be like the good guys in the movie and pursue our words. Let’s take time to listen to ourselves and catch any words of death. Don’t concern yourself with what others say just focus on yourself and your words. Other people will eat the fruit that comes from their own words.

When you hear yourself not speaking life then pause for a moment, think and then speak out fresh words of life. You will train yourself into an abundant life in no time. Areas that you have struggled in will start to change. Good stuff will begin to grow and flourish in your life as you tend them correctly with your words.

We love you – have the greatest week!

The Real Life…

Genesis 1:28 “God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill the Earth! Take charge!”

When we meet someone for the first time we often remember the conversation that took place. Those who are married often remember exactly what they said the first time they met each other. These are important times and so we remember them.

Now, today’s verse contains some of the most important words in the whole bible and it is essential that we understand them. They are the first words ever spoken by God to His creation, mankind. They are the first words ever heard by the ears of man and contain the first direction on what we are to achieve in life.

God said He wants us to:

  • Prosper
  • Be Fruitful [Reproduce]
  • Replenish [Fill the Earth]
  • Subdue [Take Charge]

These words describe the overcoming life that God desires us to live. If we live life at anything less we will be living below the potential that God has for us. Remember that God is not speaking of living a selfish and lavish lifestyle. Rather he is describing a victorious life marked by caring and helping others on life’s journey.

This week, activate God’s first words in your day-to-day life. Make a decision that no matter what situation comes your way, you are going to view it His way. Look at the situation [no matter how difficult it seems] and plan how you can make it prosper, be fruitful, replenished and subdued. Life will take on a whole new beauty as you do!

Its All Fun Until…

Psalms 35:28 “And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.” [WBT]

I can remember being constantly told in the playground by our schoolteacher “It all seems fun until someone gets hurt.” I still recall all the fun that we had peppered by the occasional pain when something did go wrong. Life so often reflects this! We can unknowingly be doing something that produces the wrong result.

This leads us to a priceless truth in our Psalm: Our tongue is the joystick of our day.

Now ponder on this for a moment… our tongue will direct our day in the same way as a conductor directs an orchestra. The book of Proverbs is filled with many valuable lessons about our tongue. It lets us know both its power and its weaknesses. Our tongue is able to say whatever we let it but if we want the right results we have to use it correctly.

Take the plunge with us today and let’s use our tongues to speak of God’s righteousness and His praise – all day long. As we do this we will find that our days become filled with Him and the course of our life is right on target.

All The Right Ingredients…

Psalms 19:14 “Let the WORDS of my mouth and the meditation of my HEART , be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my STRENGTH and my REDEEMER.” [NKJV]

Don’t settle for your thoughts when you can choose God’s thoughts! Here’s how it works… This particular verse shows us that the emphasis is on us to keep our WORDS and HEARTS in check.

We are instructed that we will come into God’s acceptable sight when the WORDS we speak and the thoughts of our HEART are in line with His Word. As we apply this in our lives He becomes our manifest LORD, STRENGTH and REDEEMER.

God has always been careful with His words and His thoughts toward us… we should be the same! Our WORDS are influential and they are powerful forces that flow from our HEARTS. We must take great care with them in our daily lives.

The message bible says it so beautifully…

Psalm 19:14 “These are the words in my mouth; these are what I chew on and pray. Accept them when I place them on the morning altar, O God, my Altar-Rock, God, Priest-of-My-Altar.” (MSG)

So if you want to enjoy God’s acceptable sight towards you today, chew on His thoughts, words and ways and place your WORDS and your HEART on His altar in prayer.
